The original closing date was 9/7, so I'm pretty sure everyone is with the show until then.

I wonder if, on the heels of their Tony win, and increased box office, they might extend a while. I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes an "open run."
Well, tickets are on sale through January now, so they have extended.

I'm glad they're extending. It's such an amazing show and this will definitely give more people a chance to see it. It's one of the best nights I've ever had at the theatre. Absolutely LOVE this play.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE:Passing Strange (7.17.08), [title of show] (7.18.08), [title of show (7.19.08 M), [title of show] (7.19.08 E), The 39 Steps (7.20.08 M), Damn Yankees (7.20.08 E)
I agree. I have already seen it twice, and will probably be back again. Just an unadulterated, fun night at the theater. The play itself isn't great, but the cast is so wonderful, they make it all worth it.
I saw it last night and couldn't stop laughing. The entire cast was superb and the audience was eating it right up! I really I hope I get the opportunity to see it again.
This has just opened in Melbourne Australia and has received some awful reviews..One critic called it Boring Boring and said there was no more than 3 good laughs for the whole night. It's a pity we over here don't have a cast as wonderful as yours.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

I think it is definitely the cast. When you think about the play itself, it's not really all that good. However, this cast pushes it over the top because they perform it with such reckless abandon. Kudos, especially, to Matthew Warchus, for getting these big, intentionally over the top, performances from the cast.
I think the reason why producers decided to bring the most recent London production to Broadway was maybe due to the help of the good cast in London. If I recall (and could be wrong) there was a good cast in Lonon. I guess the reason why this show didn't get a good write up down under is because a lot of the lines have to do with how they are delievered rather then how they are written in order for them to be funny.

Sorry, maybe I phrased the question incorrectly. Whilst the play itself may be an open run, I'm interested in knowing when the current cast are contracted until.
I'm in the UK and would like to fly over for this, but I don't think I'll be able to get to New York before October and would love to know if the current cast will still be there.
By all accounts, casts are signed for a year, more-or-less. Expect Whitford, Rylance, Baranski, Gershon, Hahn and McCormack to fly-right on thru into '09.
