Who'd want to?
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I watched it and now wish i hadn't. It looked like a bad acid trip!
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

muscle23ftl, did you ever see Bombay Dreams in London? I actually thought it was better there than it was on Broadway.

re: Bombay Dreams Clip-Opening Night

Um, I don't know what to say. I'm puzzled as to why Thomas Meehan thought it would be the "event" of the season. I'd be curious to know if anyone from the Broadway cast will tour with the show though.

Makes me want to see the tour even more. Although they don't really explain the whole plot of the show at all.

re: Bombay Dreams Clip-Opening Night

I was so bored, I got more entertainment watching the people walking behind the people getting interviewed.

After WIW, I am done with Andrew...I just cannot do it any longer!

I loved the show. I'm not quite sure why people are so pissy about it, unless they know nothing about Bollywood, which is most likely the case. Great music, gorgeous costumes, typical Bollywood underdog story, fun choreography, what's not to like? I had a GREAT time and hope to see it again. Shakalaka Baby was one of the most exicting musical numbers I've ever seen on stage. Fantastic lighting! And Ayesha Dharker was a joy to watch.

You're joking, right? Please tell me you're not that much of a bitch.

You have GOT to be kidding.

I completely agree with Matt. I saw the show dozens of times..not by choice, but I severely enjoyed EVERY minute of it.

No, all of the acting wasn't great. No, the show is not brilliant.

But it acheived exactly what it set out to do, which was to bring Bollywood to Broadway - and they succeeded admirably.

Thanks, Nick (muscle) for posting this. I love this show too.

I love lots of different shows.

And of course there are a few shows I hate, but I don't waste my time whining about them.
