Anyone else eagerly anticipating this....train wreck?
Jekyll & Hyde: loved it
The Scarlet Pimpernel: thought it was ok
The Civil War: OMG I counted the exit signs in the theater
Wonderland: Corney...the shows are not getting better
Bonnie & Clyde - the new musical disaster?
For his sake I HOPE the trend is broken and it doesn't continue.
Posted this because I just got an email from Telecharge for group sales stating the this is "Broadway's most-wanted musical". HAHAHA get the play on words?

I listened to the tracks and promptly had "You can do better than him" firmly stuck in my head. Unfortunately I visited the site again recently and it's no longer one of the tracks playing... I may go mad!
I'm looking forward to seeing B&C, but I'm a self-proclaimed Wildhorn shill, so you should believe nothing that I say.

If you go to bonnieandclydebroadway.com you can hear all of the previewed songs, "You Can Do Better Than Him" included. You just have to wait for it to pop up.
Not that I've been doing that a lot or anything.

The score's best songs are the duets, in my opinion. "You Can Do Better Than Him," "You Love Who You Love," and "The World Will Remember Us" are all fantastic.
Laura Osnes is so good in this as well!!

Posted: 8/16/11 at 7:53pmObviously we know Jeremy Jordan and Laura Osnes are transferring with the show to Broadway, but does it look like all the main cast members are joining the Broadway version or will there be a new Blanche, new Buck, etc?

I think Melissa van der Schyff is definitely transferring too (who also did San Diego). I would think Michael Lanning, one of Frank's favourite voices, would also be transferring.
Not too positive though. I'm sure we'll get an update by the end of the month.

I speak fluent Wilhorn fan, so I'll translate. This actually means these are the worst songs! YOU"RE WELCOME!

Posted: 8/16/11 at 8:46pmEven in his worst musicals I find a couple songs love. Even in Wonderland. I know he has a god score in him somewhere, so for his sake I hope its a hit. THough if I had to guess by his track record.... it's gonna suck.

Alas, the only ones the site lists for me are "The World Will Remember Us", "You Love Who You Love", "How Bout a Dance", and "Dying Ain't So Bad" (granted, I love this last one too). Unfortunately, I can't seem to find "You Can Do Better..."
He does well releasing cast albums of his musicals, though, so I'll look forward to that.
Wildhorn always has a couple of homerun songs in his musicals. Of all of them I've heard, I liked Wonderland least, but could listen to Pia Douwes sing "Finding Wonderland" on endless repeat and be happy. His musicals all tend to have their flaws, but the score isn't one of them. (Beautiful stuff, really; I hope one day his Monte Cristo makes it over here. If not, well, I'll just have to go overseas to see it.)

I hope Count of Monte Cristo makes it over here as well. Apparently it's his favourite show he's written (but who knows, it was written for & around Thomas Borchert, who I'm not sure would/could/be wanted to do it over here!).
Mildred, I don't understand what you're trying to say...

I am not a Wildhorne fan but this may be his sleeper hit!
I caught the show in Sarasota... and it was involving, moving and enjoyable. It will not be a train wreck. It is a very good show with a good script and a very un-Wildhorne score....which is a good thing and works to it's advantage. His ridiculous ballads and "the song that goes like this" are gone.
Smartly directed... with upbeat country 30's-jazz like music... good performances....nice concise concept set.
It doesn't have stars which may hurt it or help it but it is a very enjoyable musical.

Posted: 8/21/11 at 2:13pm^agreed. I've been singing the praises of this show since I saw it at the Asolo. I DESPISE Wildhorn shows, for the most part - didn't like Scarlet, didn't like Jekyll & Hyde, didn't like Civil War (save for one or two pieces) and I HATED Wonderland. My issue with Wildhorn is that his music sounds good in recording, but on stage everything just falls apart - Bonnie & Clyde is the first production of his that I've thoroughly enjoyed.
