There are a lot of books out there about orchestration and arranging, but I have not been able to find any specialized on the special challenges and requirements of orchestrating a musical. Can any of you recommend one?. I also apologize if I made any mistake, English is not my mother tongue.
The one that springs to mind is Steven Suskin's The Sound of Broadway Musicals which in some ways is more of a history of the orchestrators but does get into a LOT of technical detail. http://www.amazon.com/Sound-Broadway-Music-Orchestrators-Orchestrations/dp/0199790841/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1451823691&sr=8-2&keywords=the+sound+of+broadway+musicals
Robert Russell Bennett wrote a book called "The Broadway Sound"
Still waiting for Jonathan Tunick to write a book!
Your English was spot on.
Jonathan Tunick wrote the foreword to the published libretto of "A Little Night Music" - it's short, but fascinating.
