sad. all that money. 23 million dollars. think of the new shows that could have been mounted. real musicals. not spectacles. stuff to become classics. instead of something that you could see was a cow waiting on the tracks from miles away.
Oh, and btw, Richard Ouzounian is a superb theatre critic.
oh well...

Posted: 3/24/06 at 10:53amThis is really too bad, but I can't say it's unexpected. To do justice to the emotional depth and scope of the material, you'd need a lot more than three hours. This sounds like the Lord of the Rings Cliff Notes with incidental music. A pity.
