Some of these are more "boring productions" than "boring shows." Which is fine...there's just a very big difference.
And I'm really nervous about OUR TOWN's mention. I sincerely hope it wasn't referring to Cromer's.
Passion. Talk about tedious.
There are many shows that I just can no longer sit through. I don't think they're boring per se, I just can't take them anymore. West Side Story is one of them. I've already had to see this revival 3 times because of friends in it.
Three Sisters by Anton Chekov. Classic schmlassic. I was almost in tears I was so bored.
Try performing it...and the Mamet translation to boot! I actually won an award for it and I hated every moment of that play. In fact, I have yet to encounter a Chekhov or Mamet play I enjoy.

That's been in the back of my mind through this whole thread.
^ It's not always that easy to tell the difference, actually. I've seen plays that I thought for ages were bad pieces of writing until I saw a well-done production of them. I hated Three Days of Rain but I honestly don't know whether it's the play that's at fault, or whether a better production would change my mind.
Sometimes of course it is obvious - I thought the Donmar/Jude Law Hamlet was boring, but I don't blame Shakespeare for that. And Enron was a limp piece of writing - I enjoyed the acting, direction, design, etc. and it was quite obviously the text itself that was weighing it down.
