Has anyone ever had much luck with this 1/2 price day-of booth in Boston? I'm trying for Spamalot tonight and according to their website, it's available. I'm guessing that they dont' have the technology to take it off the site if they sell out their tickets. Also, do they only have the top tickets available at 1/2 price or are there multiple price levels?
Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!

Posted: 1/23/08 at 2:10pmI don't know if you call it luck. You will most likely get tickets. But unlike New York, they are usally the worst seats in the house. Most of the time balcony seats. Although the opera house is pretty big. And it is a Wednesday night.

Current Saying: What do you mean it isn't enough being pretty? Have you seen my headshots?!?

This is based on my experience from watching Boston's shows for the past 13 yrs since I moved to Boston...
On Bostix :
for small stage : (cost me about $26.00)
Lyric- usually on the side like ROW B & C (SIDES) not A (which is CENTER)
Speak Easy- usually 8-9th row
for Bigger Stage like Huntingtons and the three large venues (Colonial, Opera House & The Wang) - always around $42.00 dollars
- seats are ALWAYS front Balcony...no orchestra
(if you wanna get Orchestra - youre best bet is to RUSH)
*********
the cheapest way..buy the cheapest ticket at the box office on the large venues-
huntington is usually $15.00 ..the 3 houses are about $25-27.00-
They NEVER SELL out so you can always GO down after the lights.. the ushers encourage this.. trust me.. I have friends that worked at those theaters...
you'll save around $20.00 by going to this route...
Honest opinion.. Bostix is bad idea for big venues bec. you can always GO DOWN when lights come out... the theater seldom SOLD out- these theaters are 2,500 seats - 5,000 seats...
Bostix works best for small venues theaters..
Hope this helps... and another thing... hate going to the Bostix booths....soo cold...and they usually dont have great seats..somehow the tixs they are selling are already printed...you have no choice-- they give you what they have-just
go to the theater...same thing...buy cheap tix...do not buy online bec. it adds
$10.00 processing fee....

Hey all..
Actually, I did get orchestra tickets for last night's Spamalot. They were actually very good seats, and I would say that the show was about 97% sold out (I took a stroll upstairs). I guess I lucked out this time. The tickets were about $45 each. Too bad the show wasn't worth $.45. I'll post more on that when I have a second.

Princeton: What seats did you get? Just wondering, because I rushed Tuesday and got E 32 and 34.
Bostix definitely doesn't just sell balcony for the larger venues. I knew someone who had Row D side orchestra for White Christmas. I remember for another show I came across Row O orchestra. I never bought any of my tickets from Bostix, and I've only checked a couple of times, but the times I have, I came across orchestra seats. Maybe they only sell balcony seats on more popular days, like Friday and Saturday evenings.

well. come to think of it... I only watch shows on weekends bec. I work Monday-Friday and I go to the gym after work.. The only time I go to Bostix is Saturday or sunday mornings...So- I take that back.. I guess you can get ORCHESTRA on weekdays..Thanks for the correction..I did not even know that till today.
I guess.. I wont get an orchestra on bostix bec. I rarely watch shows on weekdays..It's just me.. LOL! I rarely deviate from my regular schedule... I always follow a certain 'format'..
Even on broadway...I only see shows on weekends, that's why I always post my reports on mondays.
