Which number was performed. I thought it was Bi-Costal but I might just be insane so can anyone tell me which number Jackman performed?
The Boy Next Door
thanks capn hook. I have no clue why I thought it was Bi-Coastal.
You mightve thought it was bi-coastal because they performed The Boy Next Door on the set they normally do Bi-Coastal on.
that's why. Cuz its the same costume for Bi-Coastal as well and i was listening to the cd and it just didnt seem like the right song but the pictures in the cd have in Bi-Costal wearing the costume he wore when he pulled SJP on stage.
random question - those three ladies singing in the background, was Stephanie the one in the middle?
no, it was probably Colleen Hawks, Tari Kelly, or Stephanie Kurtzuba.

The TONY number was a combination of NOT THE BOY NEXT DOOR ( song) and BI-COASTAL ( choreography, costumes, backing singers, sets and even the audience interaction moments) -- and it worked perfectly fine!. The intro with the camel was adapted from Peter Allen's famous entrances at Radio City Music Hall. Interestingly, I suspect this has been the only TONY number that was ever performed in its original setting - the hall where Peter Allen set house records.
Hugh wore the gold lame pants for the first time during the TONY number presentation - but kept the costume on for the rest of the show's run. He didn't keep the camel, though

It is time Peter Allens concerts , especially radio city , were released on DVD

Jo,
Wasn't this the camel's second Tony performance in a row?
I'm probably one of the few that would like to see Hugh host the Tonys again.

Sorry, but I saw the camel for the first time at the 2004 TONYs
I would like to see Hugh host the 60th Anniversary TONYs - after all, he won an EMMY for hosting the event and has served the theatre community for the last 3 years by hosting the annual event.
But I doubt that his current schedule for 2006 would allow that - he has back-to-back movies to film for the year ( The Prestige/Wolverine/maybe Good/ plus a few other projects to which his name has been attached - a new film musical If You Could See Me Now/ and possibly a rom-com called Rebound Guy) and a reprise of THE BOY FROM OZ in July or August in Australia.
It will be a banner year for Hugh Jackman films in 2006 ( for release: THE FOUNTAIN/XMEN3/ two animation movies - FLUSHED AWAY with Kate Winslet and HAPPY FEET with Nicole Kidman/SCOOP with Scarlett Johansson and Woody Allen/and maybe The PRESTIGE with Christian Bale and Scarlett Johansson, if it can be finished). At least, he will be back onstage for the arena tour of THE BOY FROM OZ.

It doesn't seem to be a very popular idea, but you can count me among the 'few', as well.

I'd be fine if he didn't. Variety in hosts is fun. And the guy has at least 6 movies coming out next year, so it's not like we won't be seeing anything of him.
Well this leads to a question--who WOULD you like to see host the Tony's this year? I wouldn't mind Hugh Jackman, but would like to see someone different. Billy Crystal did a great job on the Oscars and he WAS on Broadway, but I mean someone completely different...

Oh, spare us Billy Crystal, please. He's so overrated.
As long as we have a host who's at least competent, what's really important is the writing and direction, as was painfully clear during this year's ceremony.
I don't know if Billy is overrated or not, but he was good on the Oscars. But I wasn't suggesting him; said someone completely different....

Yeah, just seeing the name sets off a Pavlovian response of loathing in me. :) I guess I'm just tired of being bored witless by the Oscars then being repeatedly told that Billy Crystal is the BEST HOST EVAR OMG!!!1!!
LOL Plum!!!! I promise to never type those letters in that sequence again LOL!

Hugh could be on TV reading the phone book for 3 hours, and I'd still watch it.
