I read other people saying they lowered keys. I've never seen AIDA or AIDA w/ Toni so I wouldn't know first hand. But, I do know her as a recording artist and she has an extremely deeeeeeeeeep voice.
From what I understand they lowered the keys of most of Aida's stuff for her including Dance of the Robes and Gods Love Nubia. They also changed the Dance of the Robe choreography - and also the carpet outside of her dressing room because "she didn't like it" !?!?!?!!?
that makes me want to puke..i love when people can do cool things with their vocal power but really lets think about this.. would "AIDA" really RIFF the entire song? They have taken a wonderful show and made it into american aidaidol.
Most of todays "top" vocalists do that exact thing Bwayguy2. Sometimes it pains me (as a vocal coach) to hear some of today's "singers." I keep saying to myself "Come on, I know you can hit it. Come on. Keep tring." I can't even talk about it anymore.
Can't tell you if they changed the key for Toni or not, but saw the show for the first time on July 6 and thought she gave a great (vocal) performance - her acting, however, was uninspired. Didn't much care for the show itself, however...something about the book just didn't grab me. Dolly Parton sat a couple of rows in front of us....that was more exciting than Aida!
