Tonight Nick "officially" becomes The Boy in THE FANTASTICKS at the Jerry Orbach Theater.
Break a leg, Nick. May you have a long and happy run in the role!

I should also add that Julie Craig is re-joining the cast as The Girl tonight.
Break a leg, Julie.

Everywhere I went in Bay Area theatre, there was Nick Spangler's ghost! I never met him but everyone would rave about him and he would always have just finished the show before mine. Now he's on to bigger and better things. Congrats Nick!
Our same little Bay Area theatre community is also about to see another alum make it when Chelsea Stock starts on Broadway in THE LITTLE MERMAID!
So exciting.

Was he recently on Broadway?
He looks familiar. They are announcing that Julie Craig is joining the cast as well, but she was in it already?
Anyways, Im sad I missed Anthony =(

Posted: 7/30/07 at 7:40pmThe show was kind of quiet about Anthony Fedorov leaving. Their website never said what his last day was, and I didn't see any mention of his last day anywhere. Was it planned all along that he'd only be in the show for 3 months?

Federov's contract ended yesterday. No one ever expected him to extend. I've seen Nick play Matt several times--both in the current production and in summer stock. The guy's excellent in the role.
Yes, Julie Craig was in the show, but briefly left and is now returning.

I thought Anthony's last day was widely known. I bought the ticket to his last performance back in March. I was at his last show yesterday and the theater was sold out and people were being turned away from the box office. He received a standing ovation at the end and his mom presented all the cast members with a bouquet of roses. It was a very emotional day for Anthony, his family and his fans. But he has other projects in the works and never planned on extending his contract. He did very well in the part, despite all the naysayers, and hopefully there is more (off) Broadway in his future.
Nick has a bright future ahead of him. Something tells me he won't be staying in the role of Matt for too long and will be on Broadway before long. I might go see him in the role of Matt before the end of his run, but I think I need a break after seeing the show 8 times :)
I also loved Julie in the role of Luisa. Out of the four Luisas that I saw, she was the best, hands down.
And the rest of the cast - they've got to be one of the best casts - Broadway or off-Broadway. I am so happy that Anthony got a chance to work with those people and that I got to see them.
It certainly was a fun summer :)

I don't think Nick would mind if I shared an excerpt from the e-mail he sent me this morning:
"...The show was great, and it's so nice to have Julie back. I viewed last night as my "preview" however, and tonight is my real opening : ) That's just in my head though...."

I saw this show for the first time last month and was crying because I was laughing so hard! The whole time, I wanted Nick Spangler to burst into song. It was so painful to see a performer in a musical but not be able to hear him sing! I can't wait to see it again very soon!
Does anyone know if there are any discount codes around for it now?

I saw the show tonight (for the first time) and hated it, but thought Nick Spangler was the standout vocally and acting-wise and I appreciated his performance. He interacted well with his counterpart, who also had a very pretty voice.
I understand why some people like the show, but its just not my kind of show. I question why it ran so long...
