What a show this is going to be with all the amazing shows this year. It's on my bucket list to go to the Tonys one day. I didn't plan my spring trip appropriately this year - I'll try for next year instead. It didn't mention tickets for the general public but I assume they'll be available?

While the Beacon has been a great substitute (especially last year, which I thought was the best Tony Awards to have been presented at that venue), it's so nice to have them back where they belong.

hm. almost like Harvey Weinstein only changed the schedule for the Spectacular last year because he was mad about Finding Neverland being so poorly received the year before.

I'm surprised to see so many people happy about this. Radio City is better simply for the convenience of location and its size for a TV broadcast, but the actual awards show plays so much better at the Beacon. Not just last year, but consistently.
But I get it. Nobody wants to trek uptown when they can go over an avenue or two.

Yes, they're usually available when the show is at Radio City. They aren't when at the Beacon, there isn't enough room.
If memory serves, they public sale goes on in April. It's also on my bucket list to go, so maybe this will be my year!

For me, it's more about the prestige and honor than it is about location or logistics. Radio City is iconic and offers legitimacy. The Beacon has been a fabulous venue for a number of years, but it isn't a name that invites interest to those outside the theatre community.

Is this really "breaking news". I thought that this was well known already. I've certainly seen it on a bunch of websites for the past few days.

Tickets to the general public usually go on sale nomination morning, which this year would be May 2nd.

what has ticket demand been like in the past at Radio City? I want to go, but don't want to plan the trip and then miss out on tickets. If I'm online and ready to buy the day they go on sale should I be okay?

If they were back where they belonged, then they would be held at a Broadway theater. I'm well aware of the logistics, but I still think it's inappropriate.
