Brief thoughts on Blithe Spirit 4/9/09#1

I saw Blithe Spirit on April 9. It was the first professional play (as opposed to musical) that I saw and I really liked it. I thought the cast was strong, the pace was good, and the script was surprisingly funny. The two standouts for me were Christine Ebersole and Angela Lansbury. Jayne Atkinson and Rupert Everett were also very good. My only disappointment was that Christine didn't come out the stage door. Still, I'm really glad I got to see her, Ms. Lansbury, and the rest of the cast perform.

I couldn't agree more with your assessment. The show was a total delight. I know Ms. Ebersole has received mixed reviews, but I found her to be an enchanting Elvira. Though Ms. Landsbury was every bit as wonderful as I expected her to be, Jayne Atkinson truly blew me away in the role of Ruth. All-in-all a wonderful ensemble, well-directed on an impeccably designed set. Well worth the price of admission!
