Today's matinee has almost all of their orchestra and mezzanine seats sold, but other days the theatre is half empty. Anyone know if something special is going on today?
They did announce their closing yesterday

Yes but that does not explain why a Wednesday matinee (normally an unpopular show time) has sold almost all of their top price tickets while Friday and Saturday nights (peak time) are half empty
Having worked in multiple Broadway theaters, Wednesday matinees are most certainly not an unpopular show time. Tourists, students, senior groups and school groups usually fill the houses.
All I meant was that Wednesday is not as peak of a time as Friday or Saturday. Of course there are lots of people who go to Wednesday matinees. I'm one of them. But that doesn't explain why this one single performance out of every date that's left is nearly sold out when the others are half full.
Maybe people are expecting Steve to make an appearance
A lot of senior centers, bus tours, and such target Wednesday matinees... I've gone to matinees where three buses of people from various senior centers within a few hours of NYC all descended. Doesn't seem unusual.
