You usually can get tickets to Jersey Boys, but I would recommend waiting at the box office about an hour or so before, maybe even earlier. The box office usually sells tickets that were returned to them from brokers and hotels.
When I went, I got there around 9 am, and there were a few people ahead of me, but they were doing SRO. The people behind me, who showed up a few minutes before the box office opened, were buying the returned full price tickets. I got a good seat in the 6th row center. It is on the expensive side, but was totally worth it.
"I could never, in good conscience reccommend this show to another human being."
Well, people love it and keep coming back. To each his own.
Thank you all so much for your suggestions!!
As to him, he's more into Rock than hip-hop, and he's really putting his learning of musicals into my hands (a little bit of a nerve racking experience..I could ruin him! lol)
I didn't even think of Wicked...if I can afford tickets to that I think that might be the best choice: comedy, amazing music, all the spectacle in the world, and Kendra is there right now :) lol!
I'd NEVER EVER in my life take him to see Phantom...I saw it and nearly fell asleep (I would have if it weren't for their bass system!). For those that love Phantom, I'm sorry but it was the most boring thing I've ever seen. Not to mention the Phantom looked like a muppet when he was singing lol!
I think we'll walk around and I'll try out some Rush lines or try last minute (we're on kinda a tight budget..then again who isn't?)
So yeah thank you again for all you're input! I'll update you after the trip and let you know how it went!

I'd also say In The Heights. I'm not "into rock or hip hop" but I loved it. My 66 year old father is DEFINITELY not "into rock or hip hop" and he loved it. I'm fairly sure the octogenarian next to me isn't "into rock or hip hop" and HE loved it. It's a show where the story transcends the music that delivers it, and it's definitely weel worth seeing.

What about taking him to something you love or something you want to see? This may sound a bit selfish on your part, but your enthusiam for a play or muscial may infect him and make his night more memorable. I find it really difficult to predict or match aomeone else's theatre taste.
I think that would be a great idea...however, if I did, I'd probably take him to see Legally Blonde...which I don't think would go over very well. That, and I'd like to go see something I haven't seen either.
Living in Florida I don't get many opportunities to get up there and see new shows, so I'm always looking for a new experience :)

Why wouldn't Legally Blonde go over to well? It's alot of fun and every guy that I see in the theatre loves it. Plus there's enough eye candy in that to keep you both happy...LOL
Wicked would be a great choice also. Especially with the cast that is there now. It wouldn't matter if you get Kerry Ellis,Julie Reiber or Chelsea Krombach as Elphie IMO. They are all great. I have seen all 3 of them more that once also.
