Please tell me you are joking. Britney Spears is hardly an icon. Well, at least these days anyway. I've also always thought she had no talent.

Even though she is a little off now. How can everyone forget what she has accomplished in just the little time that she has been a singer.

Funny, I immediately assumed you were talking about an upcoming Annie tour!

Oh Britney as Ms. Hannigan! Perfect casting. She wouldn't even have to pretend to drink.

If there is any justice in the world, she will never touch a Broadway stage. I'm well aware of stunt casting, but this is would be an all time low.

I love the idea of Annie. She has the perfect voice too for Sandy.

A dream come true for Britney or for the audience? I think people will go and just watch the spectacle that she'll put on, not really for the show as a whole.

The girl is mentally unstable and lost custody of her kids...she has other stuff to deal with besides being in a crappy show. Also "icon" in 1999? She only became famous as a pop artist in 1998. She had a really successful run but I think it's pretty obvious she's not going to be an icon like Madonna.

No I think Britney has the right people in her life. She will bounce back and come back stronger. She needed this break to just calm down. She has not stopped working since 1998.

Let's not be too harsh. It's a crappy HIT show.

1) Does she have the stamina to do eight shows a week?
2) Will the producers trust her to turn up to the theatre ready to work hard eight times a week?
Regardless of the answer to 1, it would be a FOOLISH producer indeed to inflict their trust upon her at this point! (Hey, maybe we've found our Christine for 'Phantom 2'...)

Is there actually any proof this is true?
I highly doubt her father would make these kind of decisions for her personally. Besides he isn't her manager.
It doesn't seem likely that the producers would bother themselves to ask. Of course it would be a no, she's a train wreck trying to get her kids back, while going insane and working on her music 'career'.

Since she has gone a little crazy her father took over for her and has been making her decisions for her it was all over the internet.

Her father is temporarily her legal conservator, which means he is the final say in all business dealings. She can make decisions herself, but if he thinks they are not in her best interest, he could pull her out.
I haven't seen the Grease revival and have little desire to, but I'll be honest: if Britney was in it, I would totally go (out of curiosity, for one, and also because I have a lot of fond memories of her early career. THERE, I SAID IT. I still listen to I'm A Slave 4 U, okay?)

I like how people aren't calling her an icon. She is the 5th best selling artist of ALL time. Since the day she's stepped on the scene she was been the #1 most sought after performer, and most researched performer each and every year. Ever single one of her albums have debuted at #1. The ONLY female artist in history to EVER do that. (And yes Blackout debuted at 2 after a ruling for Billboard...but legally it held the #1 spot)
She's accomplished more than most performers ever have. She is an ICON, and no matter how much you may dislike her, you can NOT count her out. Even with NO promotion at all her new album has sold close to 6 million copies. How many other people do you know that can manage that?

Now all I see are cute boys with short haircuts in a maze of their own...
