Maybe this should be OT. I don't know. Please spare me the harassment if I screwed up.
I'm building my 4-year-old daughter a stage for her Barbies for Christmas. The kid is really into musicals. I've found some collectible Barbie dolls with costumes from The Sound of Music and My Fair Lady.
Do any of you know of any others out there, or even sources for Barbie outfits that might resemble famous musical characters?
Any help is much appreciated.

That's such a cute idea! I used to act out musicals with my barbies as well as my Beanie Babies

Opening Night Barbie:
This one is a doll named Kelly (who's part of the Barbie collection I think) as a munchkin:
And then Target has an Alvin Ailey dancer Barbie:

I've never purchased thru this site, but there's a whole section of "pop culture and celebrity Barbies" that might have some of what you're looking for?
(and now I kinda want an Alfred Hitchcocks THE BIRDS Barbie Doll for myself)

This page has some cabaret Barbies. Not the cabaret musical, of course, but yeah.

Whoa, why didn't I know about this? This is cool! When I was in elementary school, all my best friend and I ever did was hold auditions for "Fiddler on the Roof" and "CATS" with Barbies, with three other Barbies as American Idol-esque Judges. (One of them was named Magpie, and we always made her the worst singer.)
The Tracey Turnblad Barbie idea is VERY interesting!
The (male) director of the production of "High School Musical" that I was in over the summer had HSM Barbies.

This is a fantastic idea, I am definitely stealing it for my niece!
And I had the Dolls of the World collection when I was little, this made me miss it!

While I don't think they're Mattel the Hairspray film had a line of dolls. Link, Tracy, Edna, et al. And, if I'm not mistaken there's a Sandy cheerleader doll from the Grease film floating around somewhere.
While it's not from an actual Broadway show I think the "Solo in the Spotlight" Barbie could be a nice addition to your collection. I got the brunette one off ebay a few years ago.

Posted: 12/17/08 at 12:33amMy father is a director/designer/costumer. He used to make and sell Barbie outfits 20 years ago, and he's willing to put together a few costumes from shows my daughter has been in, but Christmas is only a week away, so having some of these to "open" her theater with will make a huge difference on Christmas morning. You guys are great. Thanks again for all the tips.

You can even make your own. A friends favorite musical is CATS. For her 60th birthday party a Grizabella cake topper was needed. I bought the Barbie size cat doll on Ebay for $7 and with acrylic paint and $4 worth of scraps from the fabric store I created Grizabella.
