Are the dogs being adopted for free or do you have to pay? Also
Does anyone know the full list of who is attending this year?

"BROADWAY BARKS ANNOUNCES CELEBRITY PARTICIPANTS FOR 10th ANNIVERSARY ADOPT-A-THON
SHUBERT ALLEY
Saturday, July 12
3:30 P.M. - 6:30 P.M.
Christine Baranski, Victoria Clark, Glenn Close, Harvey Fierstein, Boyd Gaines, Shuler Hensley, Cheyenne Jackson, Andy Karl, Lacey Kohl, Nathan Lane, Mario Lopez, Priscilla Lopez, Matthew Morrison, Judy McLane, Orfeh, Faith Prince, among others
With a book signing by Bernadette Peters of her new Best Selling Children's book,
Broadway Barks at 12:30 p.m.
Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters will host the tenth annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adopt-a-thon benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. The event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and sponsored by the ASPCA and PEDIGREE® with additional sponsorship by the New York Times will take place on Saturday, July 12th in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). The festivities begin at 3:30 p.m.; celebrity presentations of pets from citywide animal shelters will take place between 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Moore and Peters will be joined by such luminaries of the stage as Christine Baranski (Boeing Boeing), Victoria Clark (The Marriage of Bette & Boo), Glenn Close, Harvey Fierstein (A Catered Affair), Boyd Gaines (Gypsy), Shuler Hensley (Young Frankenstein), Cheyenne Jackson (Xanadu), Andy Karl (Legally Blonde), Lacey Kohl (Cry Baby), Nathan Lane (November), Mario Lopez (A Chorus Line), Priscilla Lopez (In the Heights), Orfeh (Legally Blonde), Judy McLane (Mamma Mia!), Matthew Morrison (South Pacific), Faith Prince (A Catered Affair), who will be presenting the animals for adoption. More stars will be announced in the coming weeks.
Marking the 10th Anniversary of the organization, BROADWAY BARKS 10 will again help many of New York City's shelter animals find permanent homes by informing New Yorkers about the plight of the thousands of "homeless" dogs and cats in the metropolitan area. Last year's BROADWAY BARKS! attracted an audience of more than 6,000 theater fans, pet owners, and animal lovers, and featured the participation of more than 24 animal shelters from the New York City area, as well as Broadway stars from the hit shows of the season.
BROADWAY BARKS 10 will feature a sampling of potential pets from several New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies, including A Cause for Paws, Adopt A Boxer Rescue, Animal Haven, Anjellicle Cats Rescue, ASPCA, AC&C, BARC, Bide-A-Wee, Bobbi & the Strays, City Critters, Humane Society of New York, Husky House, Kitty Kind, Long Island Greyhound Rescue, Loving Touch, Metropolitan Maltese Rescue, Mid Atlantic Great Dane Rescue, NYC Siamese Rescue, Pet-I-Care, PLUTO, Russell Refuge, Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare, Stray from the Heart, Tigger Foundation, Arf, and Save Kitty. Representatives from these organizations will be on hand to offer educational information on spaying and neutering.
BROADWAY BARKS 10 will also feature an auction of celebrity-autographed memorabilia. Proceeds from the auction and other donations received during the day will benefit the shelters and organizations attending BROADWAY BARKS 10.
For more information about BROADWAY BARKS 10, call (212) 840-0770, extension 477."
I don't think it would be a safe idea to give the animals away to adoptive families for free, so they'll definitely charge a fee to adopt.

The adoptions are handled through the various shelters that take part in the event, so they each have different fees and paperwork you have to do. Some might even have free adoptions, I don't know. I know the shelter I volunteer with (NY Pet-I-Care) normally charges a $100 fee, and all their animals come fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered.

Posted: 7/8/08 at 8:55pmI really wanted to go this year. I am seeing Spring Awakening that day. But I have to leave after the show. I love dogs, and I love Broadway...even though I am not going to adopt, going to this event is awesome (even though I almost fainted last year...oops!)

Bernadette was just in Regis and Kelly Wednesday morning, promoting this event.
I hope it goes very well for the cause.
Her book is really a nice way to promote the idea of pet adoption...I finally got a copy of it last week :)
It also made the top 5 best selling in NY Best Seller List!

Posted: 7/9/08 at 2:23amI saw Bernadette on R&K today and holy crap, those dogs are adorable. Makes me wish I lived in the city (and didn't already have too many dogs) so I could go check it out.

Posted: 7/9/08 at 2:42amDoes anyone know if Bill Berloni will be there signing copies of his new book, Broadway Tails? I took the book with me to my hair appointment today and sat there reading the first two chapters with tears streaming down my face while my color was processing. The stories about the dogs he has rescued and trained are so heart touching!

Yes, I know! Those two puppies (the ones named Regis and kelly), just made me want to adopt them, too :)
Wish I was in a situation where I could adopt, because I would not think it twice! My dog died a few years back, but, for now, I cannot get another dog <[

Posted: 7/10/08 at 1:31pmI work at the ASPCA and I'm so bummed that I can't go to the event on Saturday. One of the other Doctors that I work with is a huge theater fan as well and she was able to get the day off so that she could attend. If any of you all go, please take pictures and post them for us to see!

Btw: Cheyenne Jackson and his dog Zora are scheduled to be on CBS2 Weekend Morning Show on Saturday July 12th from 9:25 - 9:30am. Cheyenne will talk about Saturday's Broadway Barks event as well as his own experiences with adopting a shelter dog.

I was lucky enough to attend last year, not so lucky this year. Probably best. I suffered cute overload the entire time and for days afterward.
As always, I wish much success for this worthy cause and a great time to all who attend. I'll look forward to reading about your experiences and seeing your photos. Have fun and bring your water, it's gonna be HOT just like last year! I don't want any of my BWW friends falling out from the heat.

Thanks, MarkK, for linking us to that video of Cheyenne and his "Bway Bark". That probably did more for the cause than even he can imagine. Nice!

I was there for a while. Lots of adorable animals and although 4 shelters pulled out at the last minute, there were lots of adoptable animals. Everything seemed to go so wonderfully that it ran over schedule.
I didn't go last year -- my friend got married the same day. It's not an event I usually go to without some prodding, but it all seemed to go really well.
