Hi guys, I have a Broadway blog under the domain name: www.broadwaybuzz368.wordpress.com

I keep trying to get people interested, but no one seems to like it! I work really hard on it, and I need help figuring out how to get the word out about this! Are there any ways to advertise a blog that I don't have to pay for?

I'll totally follow you and everything on your blog! Anything I can do let me know. If you think of any ideas, that'd be awesome.

You seem really sincere and it's great that you've developed a passion for live theater. I'm sure I'm not your target audience but I'll just share a few thoughts. I hope they are helpful and received in the constructive spirit in which they are given.

In order for a blog to be successful, you must post consistently, every week if possible. A post every few months is guaranteed to not get you much attention.

You say it is all things Broadway but so far, it seems like it's just been reviews about shows you've seen. There are a million blogs doing that already. Why should anyone read yours, especially when some of the shows you review have been running for many years? I'm asking this so you can think about what makes yours different.

You don't really talk about you. Have an "about me" section. No one will care what you think of a show if they don't really know anything about you. Let your passion show. Talk about what theater means to you.

Have different types of posts, quizzes, cool restaurants you ate at in the theater district, maybe do some research on a show you love and write something about it's history or about the history of a theater you really liked that others might not know.

It looks like you live in the D.C. area. Maybe reach out to local theater companies, Signature etc. and ask if you can interview the Artistic Director or one of his or her assistants about how they decide what shows to pick for each season. Maybe they would set you up with an interview with a local actor and you can ask him or her how they prepare for a show, what training they think has helped them the most etc. Maybe you and your mom or dad can offer to buy them lunch and do the interview over a meal to create a more relaxed environment. Maybe contact one of the DC area theater critics and ask how they approach reviewing a show. All these would provide for more interesting posts than I saw Wicked again and it was great (not a criticism, just everyone does that)

More than anything else, you've got to decide why your blog is different than all the others and why anyone should care what you think about these shows.

Use social media. Do you have a twitter, an Instagram, Snapchat? Post those links on your blog and use them relentlessly to plug your blog. upcoming shows you're going to see, teasers about your next post. Post photos, lots of them on instagram and hashtag the heck out of them which will help people find you and your blog by finding your instagram and seeing you write a blog.

I could go on but these are just a few thoughts to help you figure out how to differentiate yourself from everyone else writing about the shows they saw. Good luck.

Hi! I think its so great that you are taking initiative and putting yourself out there.  I have a few points of constructive criticism.

Focus on grammar and formatting.  As I was reading your blog, I felt that my eyes got "tired" as everything  was in one large paragraph and I often lost my place.  Also, as you're writing, try not to repeat words within the same post, or even across different articles.  No one will want to read it or hear what you have to say if all you are really expressing through these posts is your love for the shows.

As for advertising and putting your name out there, start by telling all of your friends, family, teachers, etc. about it.  If they like it, odds are they'll tell other people, and there's no better form of advertisement than word of mouth.

Good luck!
