I was curious those broadway care auctions that are bidding for 5-15 minutes on a show.
I notice the opening bids are at $1000 .... anyone know what they usually go for?

If it's tickets for a new upcoming show for an opening night performance, expect more than at least 2x the opening bid. If it's really hot, it will probably go up to a few thousand before the Flea Market and live auction even happen next Sunday.

Are you talking about the walk-on roles? At the bottom of this article is the list of what the 2008 auction's walk-on roles went for, to give you an idea...
(eta: I notice that there was a walk-on role for [tos] sold last year- did that ever happen/how did that work?)

yeah i meant for the walk on role.
i figured wicked would go for a lot. Eh maybe i will bid next year instead ... i already have a pricey antartica trip in december planned.
I dont know just seems like its one of those once in a life time things. $4k isnt too bad. And it goes to charity right?
I wonder if you can use a good amount of that to write off on your taxes since there isnt much tangible amount to it besides the tickets.

Yes, the money spent on the auction prizes is tax-deductible.
From their site:
" Auction prizes are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law. Please contact your accountant for guidelines. BC/EFA is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization."

I was thinking south pacific since only guys can get it might not go as high :)
eh who knows ... maybe i'll try next year assuming i am still single. I figure u have to look at it more like yu are being giving a good donation to a good cause than anything else :)
