Unlike movies which frequently have marathon nights or drive in 'double bills,' theatre infrequently gets these type of back to back productions (with some notable exceptions ala Shakespeare in the Park).
If you could put together a hypothetical marathon or a double bill of theatre, what would you choose?
Here are some of my favorites:
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead/Waiting for Godot
(same actors playing leads in both and Pozo playing The Player w/Lucky as Hamlet)
Through a Glass Darkly/Next to Normal
(female mental collapse)
The Pillowman/Red
(the selection of art over a conventional life, the damage creation can cause)
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels/Catch Me if You Can/Bounce
(bromance con musicals!)
ANGELS IN AMERICA (Millennium Approaches & Perestroika) / NICHOLAS NICKLEBY
(just to see who can survive it without blood clots)

Instead of Pillowman/Red, I was thinking about Sunday in the Park With George/Red, which would be the tortured artist's double bill.
Boys in the Band/The Normal Heart (sexual culture shock)
A Raisin in the Sun/Clybourne Park and Another Part of the Forest/The Little Foxes (sequel prequel)
Long Days Journey Into Night/August: Osage County (a 7 hour alanon meeting)
The Goat/Equus (two very different views of the "abnormal" - for animal lovers)
Tartuffe/Six Degrees of Separation (charming con men gain entry to troubled bourgeois homes, havoc ensues)
Tru/Full Gallop (witty sequential visits to the homes of two fashionable New Yorkers who were close friends - unparalleled star turns)
Lettuce and Lovage/Amadeus (the conflict of mediocrity and audacity)

Jesus Christ Superstar/Godspell (suggested names for this double-header include "Jesus-stock," "Jesus-fest," etc.)
Godspell/Hair (billed as "The Sacred and the Profane")
Hair/Oh Calcutta!/Let My People Come (suggested names include "Letting It All Hang Out" and "F**kfest")

I like the Phantom/Jekyll/Dance of the Vampires combo! Only, I might replace Dane of the Vampires with 'Sweeney' only because DotV is a bit terrible.
Also, The Lion King/Book of Mormon would be fabulous.
