Has anyone recently sent out mail requesting cast signed Playbills from stage managers, or sent out mail to certain actresses/actors requesting anything signed? If so, has anyone gotten anything back from the newer shows like Something Rotten or An American In Paris?
I just sent out mail requesting cast signed Playbills from:
Kinky Boots, Lion King, Phantom, Fun Home, Something Rotten, Mamma Mia, Heidi Chronicles, Finding Neverland, and An Act of God.
Let me know if you have recently received anything in the mail.

Many people will not sign playbills via mail requests for there is a common belief that often these end up getting sold. People are more willing to sign something at the stage door.
Some producers / regional theaters are have asked us not to send them out as a general policy.
One may have a better chance sending it directly to a performer, that way the producer or stage manager does have a choice in passing it on - so it comes down to a personal choice by the performer.

I think it is undoubtedly true that some Playbills that are requested via mail end up being sold-- but a good way to counteract that is to just personalize it. And yes, some shows (whether be the producer, stage management, or whoever) have a policy about not sending them out... but it seems most will do so for a BC/EFA donation.
Regardless, if you want to hear from a specific person, I'd recommend that you send to that person directly.
