Glad to see In The Heights making it's way up there, it was dropping but it seems to be going up around the holiday and summer.
By the rate Heights is going, it could last for 2 more years or even more, since they already recouped! :)
PiraguaGuy2 (is there a PiraguaGuy1???) I thought Variety reported the nut for SHREK was $750-800K. If so using the lower figure that would put the weekly gross as 20K above not 170K above, right?
The problem with SHREK is that every time it has a god week, it then has several not so good weeks. Overall they have just barely covered costs since opening. (People may think I don't like the show...I have no opinion on it as I haven't seen it.) Looking at the numbers it seems doubtful to recoup.
9 TO 5 is gaining ground the numbers look good there. Same with NEXT TO NORMAL (BTW I am really enjoying the CD of it and hope to see the show when I am in New York in late June.)
Of the revivals, WEST SIDE is leading the way and seems to be a solid hit. HAIR may need the Tony win to push it over the top. GUYS & DOLLS is in the same boat as SHREK.
Variety's annual tabulation of Hits & Flops should be out in about 2 weeks: the season officially ends this Sunday (May 31.)

Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

next to normal is really making under 400K at 90%...? is that a function of its tiny theater or low ticket price? I would think it would be doing better.
A little from column a, a little form column b. But they just keep going up every week (in three ways, total gross, capacity and avg ticket price). SO HAPPY for N2N. it seems to be finding an audience, for now.
Everything in life is only for now.
We don't know what the weekly nut is for NEXT TO NORMAL. With a cast of 6, it can't be that high. The bottom line on any show is that cost. A show that breaks even at $400,000 that routinely grosses $600,000 is doing well. If the show breaks even at $800 and grosses $600.000 it's in trouble.
Average ticket price doesn't really factor into it. It's more a result than a cause.
