9to5 keeps climbing and climbing... and Shrek seems to be hanging in there too...
next to normal is really making under 400K at 90%...? is that a function of its tiny theater or low ticket price? I would think it would be doing better.
meanwhile how the hell is august osage county staying open? I really can not understand why the producers insist on keeping that show open at 40% attendance. Are they making any money at this point? Do they think people are going to flock to see Phyliscia Rashad?
Way to go Next to Normal! They keep building on the previous week! So happy for them!
August:Osage County has already recouped so the producers probably have a lot cash to fund the show if it's not making its nut with the hope that Rashad will bring in more $. Next to Normal's average ticket price is pretty low ($60) because they seem to be doing a lot of promos. That & the tiny theatre account for the low gross.
Loving the numbers for Hair!!! A second week being over $900K!! It should be recouping very soon! Let's hope those numbers stay like that for the entire summer.
If Rashad doesn't bring August's numbers up, it'll be closing very soon. She's gotta be the only reason the show is staying open.
Very happy about this week.
Thanks Memorial Day and the beginning of summer.
Good jump for most of the shows. I wish Desire stayed like that from the beginning because they probably could have afforded to continue bringing in 350K a week. Nice jump for the Disney shows and Shrek. I don't know what to say now with the whole Little Mermaid "closing" because they definitely picked up. This coming week I personally think they will hit a million because Sierra Boggess is leaving Sunday.

Nice jump for the Disney shows especially Shrek.
Disney has nothing to do with Shrek. Shrek is produced by Dreamworks.
I don't know what to say now with the whole Little Mermaid "closing" because they definitely picked up.
As we all knew it would. This is just like Legally Blonde last year. The show is going to see its grosses plummet this fall, just like LB's did.
This coming week I personally think they will hit a million because Sierra Boggess is leaving Sunday.
Very, very, very few of the ticket buyers to The Little Mermaid care at all that it's Sierra Boggess' last week.
adamgreer- how come everything I say you have to backlash it all. People have their right to have opinion and not be treated like the way others treat people. People on this board are completely rude and are so freckin opinionated that they don't frecking care about what others think.. Like everybody had the whole thing with shows and when people like the ones that others hate, they get bashed for it. Leave people the hell alone and stop worrying about stupid ****
People have their right to have opinion
Shrek being produced by Dreamworks, not Disney, is not an opinion. That's a fact.
As for the rest of your post, it's far too incoherent to even attempt to make sense out of.

Mermaid and Shrek's bumps are summer/family trends. Not sustainable. The average person doesn't know who Sierra is either.

I saw the Saturday matinee of Desire Under the Elms -- the house was full and I think Rosemary Harris was in the audience (couldn't tell for sure). It was truly a mesmerizing piece of acting from all the leads and, at curtain, the audience seemed to agree. Personally, I think it's CRIMINAL that Carla didn't get a Tony nod, ditto Pablo and Brian. What a shame that it came too late in the season and didn't have the chance to profit off the reviews. One of this seasons sad but true happenings.
I'm so happy for Next to Normal.
I'm happy for REASONS. It keeps climbing, slowly but surely.
Good for 9 TO 5.
And, of course, I'm happy for N2N.
Not a bad week!

Hmm...I thought 9 to 5 and Shrek were absolutely dead and would close by Labor Day.
Shrek is making $170,000 over its "nut" and 9 to 5 is making $200,000.
Yay Next to Normal!
Woo 9 TO 5 and NEXT TO NORMAL!!
"N2N was absolutely packed (again!) tonight !!!
YAY !!!!
