Starletta - me too.

If you don't know anything about Sweeney Todd going in, the story is really confusing since there is a lack of set, it's hard to tell where anything is going on. I knew most of the story and I was still confused by it.

seems like The Producers has really lost its mojo. Do you think they will close it before it starts playing to half-empty houses, or just hope it rebounds again?

Look for a name to be brought into THE PRODUCERS, I know not who, only that they are looking for one for Max.
Which is a shame cause John Tracey is simply Wonderful!
Maybe John can slip into that Chrysler Dress when Gary leaves for Les Miz.

Yeah, I can see that happeneing. Here's how I see it:

A failing actor.
Comeback?
BROADWAY!
But what?
Ah, The Producers!

So who's been out of the limelight for awhile?

They must have managed the show well because even in the high 60s, it's still pulling in money and with no major names in the show, I'm sure they're making a profit. What I think will happen is that they'll coax Matt and Nathan back to do a "farewell" stint and close the show with them in it. Maybe get them to do a 6 week engagement or something. Or maybe they'll wait until "Young Frankenstein" is ready and then just switch it out with the Producers. Updated On: 7/19/06 at 12:16 AM

maybe the EVITA revival could go to the St. James...

and should I give my parents some SWEENEY background before we see it? I don't want to give too much plot away, but don't want them to get confused and not enjoy it...

Re: The Producers

Forget the attendance percentages and look at the grosses. As long as the show is grossing more than $550K-600K it's still making a profit and as long as that's happens, it's not going anywhere. In its 5+ year history, it's only failed to hit break even three times, I believe, so don't look for it to close anytime soon.

I hope you're right, Curtain.
John Treacy Egan is terrific. A few years ago, I saw JTE as Roger deBris, and to my shock he was even funnier than Gary.

Not sure why they would try and push "Hairspray" out when "The Proudcers" isn't doing much better/worse. Think about it, ALW could have Evita right across from Phantom - that's a pretty good scheme. Just like Tarzan and Beauty and the Beast.
