I am going to be in New York in mid-October and was looking at the lotteries and rushes for different shows. I have done some lotteries before (Wicked, Avenue Q) and know that at some shows you have a better chance of winning.
I was wondering if I would have a better chance with West Side Story of In the Heights.

Just mere speculation but..
I think October should be a slow month for shows. Ecspecially on week nights. You have to figure most people work and most kids are in school and there no major holidays that people would be flooding NYC for..
Buisness will Sharply pick up in november (thanksgiving) and December (christmas) dont even get me started (rushing/lotto will be impossible)

Maybe, if you're going with somebody else, you could go to the In the Heights lotto and whoever you're traveling with could try the West Side Story lotto. That's what I would do. But with all the buzz about West Side Story, a lot of people try lotto. In the Heights is a better bet.

I won the Wicked lotto the day after Christmas and close to Labor Day. There wasn't many people there either(maybe 75-150 which is NOT many at all). Well it was freezing the day after Christmas and something was going on in Sept when I won it. The other time when I won in June there was at least 500 people there.
To answer the OP's question I have no clue as to which of those shows would be easier or have less people.
