Broadway Musicals Performing at Football Games

The cast of MAMMA MIA! will turn 80,000 football fans into Dancing Queens this Monday night, September 15th, when the New York Giants take on the Dallas Cowboys at the Meadowlands...

Anyone know of any other musicals that have performed at a sporting event? I am not talking about the national anthem, but an actual song from their show.

Now wait a minute! Football isn't a bad thing. I rather like looking at Kerry Collins, Jason Seehorn and Chad Pennington. Joe Montana was great-looking, too! However, I think it would be a hoot if Harvey did one of his numbers from HAIRSPRAY during half-time!!!! Imagine how that would go over with the testosterone crowd!

No, do you know the REAL reason Mamma MIa is singing at the game? I don't know if youremember or know who I am talking about, but last year a former NFL player came out of teh cloet -- he has a husband and they have to kids and he is on the CHILI's commercial playing the little guitar.
Well, they are having Mamma Mia perform so that they cn figure out who the rest of the gay football players sare -- teh minute they stat to sing along or look at Joe Machota for a few seconds longfer than neccessary....busted.

Is the game gonna be on TV?

Alright...first of all...you don't have to be gay to enjoy theatre. Why do so many people stereotype like that? Now I don't think this Mamma Mia performance will go over well. I attend NE Patriot NFL games every year and even I would not want to hear musical theatre at halftime. It just doesn't work.

On a somewhat theatre side note: I went to a Patriots game shortly after Joey McIntyre finished his run in TTB and he sang the national anthem. As soon as his name was announced the whole place erupted in boos. I was not happy with it because I don't think you should boo anyone coming to sing the nation's anthem but I guess most of the fans decided to vocalize their opinions.

Btravo, Namo! Breeders claim sports (even of there are gay althletes, all of whom are closeted while playing), then us homos have every right to claim the theatre!

Does anyone remember the NBA All Star Game from a few years ago?

I can't believe I just asked that question.

Anyway, it was at the Garden and they decided to have a crapload of Broadway shows perform at halftime. Also, The Star-Spangled Banner was stunningly sung by the men of 1776 and Robert Cuccioli sang Oh Canada. The halftime show featured our beloved Bebe leading the cast of Chicago, followed by snippets of other Broadway musicals and the crowd went NUTS!
