As We Stumble Along is not out of context with the show as it doesn't make sense being in the show at all, and thats the point of the song. It's just a rousing anthem LOL.

I can understand someone not enjoying it, if they went every year and did the same songs. If I went, I probably would have enjoyed it, just because I have never been before.

It was my first one, and I loved it. I mean I've seen some on TV, but not live.

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

I was there for a little while... what I saw wasn't bad. The only thing that bothered me was Martin Short. I don't find him funny. oh, and also - they made it hard to see unless you're tall. I am but my friend couldn't see a thing.

I had to strain my neck to see, but I had a blast. It was my first one. Very exciting to be there.

I enjoyed most of it. Not Jay Johnson. That was just not good.

I enjoyed High Fidelity, The Color Purple, The Lion King was awesome, and er, um, well, The Wedding Singer.

I thought it was nice to feature Constantine. Heck, it's been his dream to do Broadway. The guy had a great week. The crowd seemed to enjoy the performance, too.

Clumsey- I was standing right next to you man. weird. A couple of questions... Grey Gardens was serious, yes, but incredibly beautiful. Why were your friends like "Thanks a lot now i'm depressed!" and "Is it just me or was she off-key?" It was a gorgeous song! but it was hilarious when your buddies were making fun of the monkey man. I was fake laughing too. Didn't reconize you but enjoy your posts! to everyone else- the two more painful moments were Tarzan and Wicked. Tarzan, because of its cliched lyrics, Wicked because it was never a good show in the first place but still gets huge rows of applause. Grey Gardens shouldn't have been previewed at Bway on Bway because the type of folks going there aren't going to tolerate or understand a somber, artful show. christine didn't get the applause she deserved. Perhaps it's just not an appropriate venue. Times They Are A Changin' is either going to be great or suck badly. It was hard to tell because there seemed to be a lot of technical errors going on, which distracted from the presentation. It was a sort of gospel interpretation of "Blowin' in the Wind." It's deeply sad that the most relevant song I heard all day was written 45 years ago. What does that tell you about the current state of commercial theater? I've heard the High Fidelity demo and it's a lot better than what was seen. Not that it was a bad performance, at all, but it sounded a bit corny out of context. Will Chase is very endearing. "Spelling Bee" sounded beautiful but again, a slow-paced number doesn't go over well. "Drowsy," while out of context, was a rousing number that left me smiling. "Color Purple" was well done and touching. I'm glad "Hairspray" didn't do "You Can't Stop the Beat" and strayed a bit more from the path. Marty did what he could as host, but hosting anything is always slightly akward. His "Big Black Woman" closer, taken from his show, was by far the best part. At least I left laughing. I didn't realize I was going to get to see three American Idols and a teeny bopper sensation for free! what a treat. I had a good time but I felt very disenchanted because I just wanted to jump up there and say "Okay, now we're going to show some relevant pieces that reflect how the general public is feeling, and maybe give you some things to think about." But then I just walked away in the confetti like everyone else. I remember three years ago when Taboox previewed. That was the best Bway on Bway ever, because "Stranger" really blew my mind. ah well... maybe next year something else come along...

There was no "Best of Belle Medley" from Beauty and the Beast but rather just "A Change in Me."

I Loved THE TIMES.....
It's an Amazing song sung and
acted by a great cast.
Not what you might want to see on
Broadway on Broadway
but I see everything Arden does
and Twyla and I love Dylan.
Ebersole singing that song out there was
abstract to say the least.

I didn't watch the show. I was working.
I spent my day interviewing the casts.
IT WAS A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But this is the first year I did not watch the show.
My feet were killing me. Standing in stilleto boots was a pain in the rear. (FOUR HOURS IN VERY HIGH HEELS)
re: 'Broadway On Broadway' Not Up to Par

omg i forgot to mention norm lewis! how could i? he's the only reason i'd go see les miz. been a fan since new brain- his voice is incredibly powerful. another thing- donny osmand came across as very creepy. why would he, as the beast, be prying on young girls when he's 30 years past his prime? that just adds a new level to the show. sara uriarte berry isn't really a youngster, but her role is, and that's what makes it weird. btw, corine, how did you stand in heels for four hours? that sounds painful. did any of the fine gentlemen performing this year give you a foot rub?

Well, this was my first time ever going. In the past I've just been to lazy to wake up early on a Sunday. I'm glad I went. I didn't know it was not being televised this year.

I was completely bored by Spelling Bee, Les Misérables, and The Producers.
Jay Johnson was just completely pointless and actually made me angry that such a silly act was even up there.
Avenue Q, Wicked, Color Purple, and Rent were just okay to me. Nothing great.

Beth Leavel, always a treat. Bob Martin is a nice comic relief, as is Martin Short.
The Lion King was really good.
Hairspray was not the best, but it was upbeat so I did enjoy it.

The highlights for me were Grey Gardens. Yes, it was a slow number, but it was beatifully sung. I thought it was nice in the mix of upbeat without being boring.
Spamalot. It was well performed, and fun.
Fame Becomes Me. THAT is how you end a show. They should have just finished with that number instead of bringing everyone back for "New York, New York."

I just looked at the photos of Broadway on Broadway and noticed that Celia Keenan-Bolger was not in the "Spelling Bee" photos. For some reason she must not have been able to come. That is Celia's understudy in those photos right?
