(paraphrasing)
Well, I'm off to the Taboo finale party. We have one every night: just in case.

Hahaha. That whole EPISODE was about Mamma Mia! At least Will's storyline...
W&G has Broadway references every 2 episodes. One of my favorites is when Will was talking about seeing Fiddler the other night. Karen walks in the apartment and says she was at the show that night also. Something about 'mos and Jews, then: "It's like paying $100 to hang out here!!"

yeah they did one about Footloose---
Will: Did you ever have a really good idea, and then once you acted on it, it turned out to be horrible. (or something like that)
Grace: Yeah, its called Footloose on Broadway.
The Kevin Bacon episode is by far my favorite.

I just thought of another Broadway reference in Family Guy while I was in the shower:
Remember when they invite the boss over for dinner, and he ends up joking and dying. Well, before he dies the kids say goodnight to him and they do the exact "So Long, Farewell" thing from the Sound of Music.
I nearly peed my pants when I saw that.

So he asked the class "Are you a curse in the dark type of person or a light the candle?" and i was like "LIGHT THE CANDLE!! because then you can sing light my candle from Rent," I felt like such a dork lol.

Lol, dont feel like a dork. I was the smartest person in my AP US History class, b/c half of all the useless information I knew about America was from musicals.
And my teacher would say, "Jill, do you know that only b/c of the song in Oklahoma?" and I'd shyly say yes, and he would just laugh---deep down inside, I think he was a musical lover.

Here are two I just remembered:
There was a movie called AIRPLANE! which was about an airport and the flights, and it was one of those movies where there was something funny happening every 5 seconds. They had this one scene where there was a crazy patient on board the "airplane hospital" who was singing, "Everything's Comin' Up Roses" from Gypsy.
Also, in The Nanny, Fran is dating a guy who happens to be a mobster. As they are walking into the Italian restaurant you can see Beauty and the Beast playbills in their hands.

Posted: 9/17/04 at 3:25amMillie -funniest part about yours it that the airline food was making one woman on the plane think she was Ethel Merman. Even better; she really WAS Ethel Merman!

The Lt. Hurwitz reference in Airplane! had me in hysterics for minutes. I actually had to stop the movie - I needed some time before I could go on.
I love the Family Guy Broadway references. So many.
"You. You are the worst thing to happen to musical theatre since Andrew Lloyd Webber. And you, I just don't like you."
The My Fair Lady spoof with "The Life of the Wife is Ended By the Knife" was another one. (I also loved the episode where Stewy actually sang "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face"),
Such a great show. Can't wait for it to come back.
