I don't watch this show on Disney, but I happen to have it on and it is playing in the background. Anyways, there was just a scene where this guy came to pick some of the girls up in a limo. You know how some horns in a car have a tune to a song? I could've sworn I heard the horn on the limo do a quick instrumental, "We're in the money."

Also, I was reading an advice column one time and this lady had made wedding dresses for a couple of relatives. She wanted to ask for some money in return for making the dresses, but the person hadn't offered to pay. Anyways, the ladies responded, "No good deed goes unpunished," which instantly reminded me of Wicked. Of course, there was more advice to follow after that.

What are some references to Broadway shows you have seen/heard in weird places?

And I always feel like such a geek when I notice something Broadway and nobody else does, and then you have no one to share it with...

Not sure if this counts, but I'm throwing it up here anyway.

Just about anything that anyone says reminds me of a showtune.
Examples from today...
(yes, this is just from today.)

Friend said: "I was just listening to some Nirvana"
I thought: "No, it's not Nirvana, but it's on the way." (Last 5 Years)

Friend said: "What a cute dress"
I thought: "Welcome to my party! Glad you like the dress" (Wild Party)

Friend said: "That really bothered me"
I thought: "Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered am I." (Pal Joey)

Friend said: "I can't study unless it's quiet"
I thought: "Where is my quiet girl?" (Wonderful Town)

Friend said: "Just wait one moment"
I thought: "Just for this moment, as long as you're mine" (Wicked)

Friend said: "I don't think she's a natural blonde"
I thought: "So if you're a redhead, a blonde or brunette, take my advice and you might just get the only thing better than hairspray; that's me!" (Hairspray)

Friend said: "I dare you"
I thought: "You want me baby? I dare you. Just try and tear me down" (Hedwig and the Angry Inch)

Friend said: "I think we're going to give up on cable and get satellite."
I thought: "a summer in Ohio without cable, hot water, Vietnamiese food, or you" (Last 5 Years)

Friend said: "Do you have any ice?"
I thought: "WHERE THE HELL'S MY ICE?!" (Wild Party)

Friend said: "I was soooo late"
I thought: "I may be late, but if you can just wait I will make it eventually" (Last 5 Years)

Friend said: "I won't do THAT ever again."
I thought: "No good deed will I do again! Ever again!" (Wicked)

I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!

millie_dillmount - No good deed goes unpunished was an expression from my 77 year old mother's childhood and she said it all her life...so that phrase was "borrowed" for wicked - as was most of the music...

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

I was in class today (Spanish) and we were discussing Don Quijote.
It was SO hard to keep myself from bursting out "I, DON QUIJOTE, THE LORD OF LA MANCHA..."

But still, it reminded me of Wicked.

One of my friends "Spanish names" in Spanish class is Don Quixote.
I do burst into song everytime he is called on.
And the teacher wouldn't let me be Evita, or even Evito.
So I am Che.

Did any of you see the revival of Man Of La Mancha? - when Cervantes (as the Don) climbs onto the wooden horse to sing the second half of "I, Don Quixote", they projected a shadow of a real knight riding his horse on the wall behind him - it was an AMAZING affect!

Redhot, it actually moved along with him? That's incredible.

Odd places, eh? Well, this was actually a reference by me, but it still counts. I was in Chemistry class, and the teacher was saying something, and asked, "Can you do that?" and immediately, I sang, "I can do that! (taps foot) I can do that!"

redhot- I saw it, but I don't remember that. That's really incredible, though!!

Simpsons also has a bunch of Broadway references.

Whenever someone says anything that is just a little close to a song, I will sing that song. My friend today said she needed a makeover, and I burst into "Popular". Or a friend of mine was going to do a magic show for the little 1st grade Girl Scouts, so I burst into "Magic to Do"..... and then there was the time I was in religion class, and the passage from "Light of the World" from Godspell came up, so I HAD to burst into that...

I have my books and my poetry to protect me...

Once I was watching Spongebob with my little brother, and I wasnt really paying much attention to it and then all of a sudden (and I was rehearsing for this show at the time):

Spongebob: Patrick, is the part of the song where we start kicking?
Patrick: No Spongbob, thats A Chorus Line.

In English class this week we are watching INTO THE WOODS and deciphering synechdoches in the musical.

My English teacher is the coolest.

ooh Family Guy is the BEST!!! Seth McFarlan is a genius! Remember the one where Lois was directing a production of The King and I, but Peter kept changing stuff?

Peter: Jeez, Lois, I thought you wanted to do a *good* show! If you wanted to do a *bad* show, we could have just done RENT!

And who can forget The Simpsons!?! Remember when Homer was in RENT 2: Return of the Landlord?? classic stuff =) Updated On: 9/13/04 at 08:03 PM

In "Miss Congeniality," Sandra Bullock is getting her teeth cleaned and her hair done at the same time. She says, "Ow! Can I get some novacaine?!" and the dentist says, "It's just a cleaning." She replies, "No, I'm talking about Sweeney Todd back here!"

i always see shows in everything!
