Posted: 12/31/10 at 7:22pmTaking a trip to NYC in a few months and have no idea what to see. I've been keeping up on broadwayworld about all the shows, but have no idea which shows are the ones worth actually seeing lol. A little help is appreciated!

Posted: 12/31/10 at 7:28pmI've only ever seen Wicked and Lion King on Broadway. I've really wanted to see 39 steps, but typically i'd like to see more musicals.

Well, if you're going in the spring, there is a bevy of new musicals opening that all look incredibly promising. Priscilla: Queen of the Desert has gotten great advance buzz from its out of town previews, and should be a lot of light fun ala Mamma Mia. Catch Me If You Can has also gotten good notices out of town, and has a fabulous cast as well!
Personally, I'm most excited for The Book of Mormon, since Stone and Parker have yet to do any wrong in my eyes.
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying is another one that's sure to be a ton of fun. Especially if you are a Harry Potter fan and want to see Daniel Radcliffe!
So many of the stalwart shows are closing in the coming weeks, so if you are headed here in the spring or early summer, it's really the newer stuff that you are going to want to head to.

You will have many options if you are going after the new shows open on late-March/April. I'm looking forward for Catch Me If You Can, The Book of Mormon and How To Succeed in Business Withouth Really Trying. However, there's no way of knowing for sure if they are worth seeing yet.
For the shows of the last season that are not closing, I recommend American Idiot (specially if you like Green Day) and La Cage Aux Folles (although they are changing cast on February).
And finally, from the more traditional, long-lasting shows, my picks would be Billy Elliot, Jersey Boys and Wicked.
