Michael Cerveris's solo album is really good too. Same with Rachel York.

Chester Gregory's "High Love" is incredible. I got it through iTunes, but its on CDBaby.com too, and I think on his website www.chestergregory.com

If you want a solo recording of Broadway show tunes I would HIGHLY recommend the recordings of Anthony Warlow. His CD's may be a bit more expensive since they are imports--but they are WELL worth it. All of his recordings have at least some Broadway music on them. The best choices for purely showtunes would be On the Boards and Centre Stage. If you only want to buy one CD of his I would suggest getting The Best of Act One. This recording includes songs off of all of Anthony's previous CD's except his most recent ones.

Another idea would be Colm Wilkinson's Stage Heroes recording. It is a great album of Colm singing traditional Broadway hits as well as songs from pop musicals like Phantom, Les Mis, and Chess. He is backed up by a full symphony orchestra and the song arrangements are very well done.

Y'know I ordered 'Stage Heroes; just yesterday so I am really excited for it to arrive now you've given it the seal of approval.

I'll check out Mr Warlow too.

Thanks!

I have Kristin Chenoweth's "As I Am" CD which is a collection of inspirational/Christian songs that are great if that's something that interests you. Her more traditional pop album "Let Yourself Go" has old standards on it which more people might know of.

Yeah, I downloaded 'Let Yourself Go' from iTunes UK and love it already. I have ordered her 'As I Am' CD so am excitged for its arrival at my house.

Does anyone know of any good belting CDs or gospel sound CDs? I like big choirs (a la Broadway Inspirational Voices, preferably with a musical theatre bent) and belty gospel. Or anything bold and brassy.

I love Kristin Chenoweth's rendition of "My Funny Valentine." If you can get your hands on Frances Ruffelle's self-titled album, I highly recommend it, she is the original Eponine and sings in the Original Cast Recording of Les Miserables. Her voice is very unique so listen to the original version of On My Own or A Little Fall of Rain to see if you like her, she's great.

but where do most of yall get these cds, do they sell most of them in stores, and do you have to order them from their websites, or something?

I LOVE Philip Quast's "Live at the Donmar" CD.

And if you like Cole Porter, John Barrowman's "Swings Cole Porter" CD is great.

Anthony Warlow is what God would sound like if he were given human form. I can't even come close to verbalizing how much I love this man and his beautiful voice.

Centre Stage is a fantastic disc by him, as is Back in the Swing. His voice is versatile and pure perfection.

Adam Pascal has a more "rock" sound to his. While Megan Mullally tends to cover a variety of different genres on her cds. On her first album it's more focused but her second cd "big as a berry" she covers country, showtunes, pop songs, etc. her voice is wonderfully diverse.

I'll blow my own horn here for a bit, but I've worked on these recordings for the following singers, and I like most of them (the singers and the recordings):
Liz Callaway: ANYWHERE I WANDER, ON AND OFF-BROADWAY, THE BEAT GOES ON
Judy Kuhn: JUST IN TIME
Jason Graae: YOU'RE NEVER FULLY DRESSED WITHOUT A SMILE
Sally Mayes: OUR PRIVATE WORLD
Twiggy: LONDON PRIDE
Rebecca Luker: ANYTHING GOES
Brent Barrett: THE KANDER & EBB ALBUM
Matt Bogart: A SIMPLE SONG
Sean McDermott: MY BROADWAY, A PIECE OF SKY
Caroline O'Connor: WHAT I DID FOR LOVE, FROM STAGE TO SCREEN
Craig Rubano: FINISHING THE ACT
Kim Criswell: BACK TO BEFORE

All have great singers and some wonderful songs.
