Usually the playbill is enough. If I really like the show, I'll get a windowcard and get it signed by the cast.
On rare occasions ~ like if it's a very special event ~ I'll get the souvenir program. (I have two hoodies ~ but those were largely because I was cold and had a little money to burn (they are from shows I liked at least) ~ and a couple of t-shirts...but it really depends on the shirt and my cash situation.)
LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!

Posted: 2/23/09 at 5:27amIf its a show I like I'll get a souvenir program. I TRY (read if I have the money) to get a windowcard. I keep the playbill of course and have a few of them framed and they hand on the wall in my old room in my mother's house.

Posted: 2/23/09 at 8:31amI also go a bit over board. What began as a few souveniers in my den has grown. It became the 'Broadway Den', and two homes later it has morphed into the 'Broadway Basement Museum' consisting of four rooms. I collect framed posters, signed and not, 18 binders of Playbills, over 150 programs, just as many mugs, scored of masks (Miss Saigon etc), backstage gifts from Producers and Fiddler, the Alice Ripley/Betty Schaffer Minskoff door from Sunset Blvd, two walls devoted to the history of A Chorus Line, thousands of lose Playbills alphabeticalized, props from Cabaret, Here Lies Jenny, Chicago, Tommmy etc, over 100 autographs and 8x10's (from Mary Martin to Gwen to Madonna), hundredsa of scripts, each shows coffee table book when available, 11 old yellowing scrap books of my old shows, and the list goes on and on. I've been to over 300 Broadway shows since 1970, and I've managed to get a souveneir of most. I really don't know what I'm going to do the next time I move!!

I typically get a windowcard if I like the show a lot - I have these nice frames that it is very easy to change them out of, and a box under my bed with the extras in it. I occasionally change what is on the wall because I have a ridiculous number of windowcards but I don't want my apartment to look like Joe Allens - so I limit the number that is up at any given time.
I used to buy shirts more, and I still do if I love the show a lot, but I just sleep in them, I typically won't wear them out - I'm far too old for that.
