I think this is the busiest spring session on Broadway since 1996/97.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I was thinking this was a pretty busy season! How exciting... I want to see them all!
P.S. Isn't Faith Healer a revival? (I might be wrong)

Posted: 4/3/06 at 12:37pmDamn...that is insane! Out of those 14 shows, I have seen 3 (Festen, Awake and Sing, Lestat), have tickets for 8 (Three Days of Rain, Threepenny Opera, History Boys, Wedding Singer, Hot Feet, Drowsy Chaperone, Faith Healer, Tarzan), and still need tickets for 3 (Inishmore, Caine Mutiny, Shining City). Very very busy April!

I have seen 4 (Lestat, Tarzan, Wedding Singer, and Lieutenant- if you count off broadway), have tickets to 2 (Festen, Awake and Sing), am planning on rushing Threepenny, lotterying Drowsy Chaperone, doing SRO for Three Days of Rain, and seeing the other 5 somehow... April will be busy!
Also, 15 musicals have opened or will open on Broadway in the '05- '06 season... 12 original, 3 revival, right? When has there been that many in the recent past?
revivals: Threepenny Opera, The Pajama Game, Sweeney Todd
songbook musicals: Ring of Fire, Lennon, Jersey Boys
from movies: The Color Purple, The Wedding Singer, Tarzan
from books: Woman in White, Lestat
original: Drowsy Chaperone, In My Life
retrospective: Chita Rivera The Dancer's Life
interesting surprise?: Hot Feet
