I was just wondering if anybody else was fortunate to catch Marin Mazzie on CBS'S Still Standing last night with Kevin Nealon. She was hilarious!!!! But they didn't let her sing....boo. Anyways I know Brian Stokes and Bebe Neuwirth have both been on Frasier and Cheers respectivley. But what are some other peoples fave broadway star appearances on t.v.?

Carol Channing on Laugh In...when she and Goldie Hawn sang, "Blondes Aren't Necessarily Dumb."

Almost every Broadway guest that has appeared on The Nanny.

Bernadette Peters on Ally McBeal. And of course Jane Krakowski who was a regular on that show.

Harriet Harris and Kristin Chenoweth on Frasier.

Adam Wyle (Jack from ITW revival) on Gilmore Girls....when he came back to the show after his run on Broadway, they made a lot of reference to the fact that he was in it. It was funny.

speaking of which, does anyone know the actress that played the part of Mona on one episode? Does anyone know what i'm talking about? Fran had a friend Mona who was also a nanny and she was retiring and Fran got all worried about her future after the kids grew up...I just can't remember the womans name!!

Law and Order. Watch the reruns. Everyone who works on the NY stage turns up there. It's reason enough to watch. Also, "Oz." Sometimes, naked.

God, I can't be lieve I know this . . . haven't seen The Nanny in forever, but I believe it was Tyne Daly.

Bernadette Peters did a lot of TV in the 70s & 80s--ALL IN THE FAMILY, MAUDE, JOHHNY CARSON, ALL'S FAIR, CAROL BURNETT. Donna Murphy has done a lot of TV as well. She was a regular on MURDER ONE, WHAT ABOUT JOAN and HACK. She, like most NYC based actors, has also been on LAW & ORDER. Tammy Blanchard was a regular on GUIDING LIGHT. Carole Shelley is always wonderful when she turns up on TV. She had a great role on FRAZIER and she was fantastic on the old ODD COUPLE series. Carolee Carmello was on FRAZIER as was Patti Lupone in an Emmy nominated performance. Gregg Edelman played Donna Murphy's love interest on HACK. Neuwirth was on HACK as well.

It was Tyne Daly who played Mona. It was pretty recently after her run in Gypsy, and at the end of the episode she says, "It was for me! For me!" and flew he arms up in the air. She was speaking in reference to a ceder closet that had been built. lol Clearly the studio audience didn't get the Gypsy reference, but I thought it was histerical. re: re: re: broadway stars on t.v.
When Bette Midler was on, there was also a Gypsy mention. Fran does a sort of stripper move and says, "I learned that from Gypsy." and Bette says, "The TV movie?" and Fran says, "Is there any other." lol

Any time you guys wanna know something about The Nanny (a guest star, or whatever) just ask me. lol I know everything about that show sadly. re: re: re: broadway stars on t.v.

tpdc , Frasier is with an S not a Z. :)

There was a very well researched article by Wontorek on Broadway.com a while back specifically about how many Broadway fav's had been on Sex and the City. The list is great and seemingly endless. Check the archives.

Mona on the Nanny was definitely Tyne Daly. For that "For me! For me!" line, I was sitting there cracking up and my family thought I was nuts. I was like "Its from Gypsy, you wouldn't get it"

And then in another ep... I can't remember the title... the one where Maxwell asks Fran to design costumes for his show, he started speak/singing Everything's Coming Up Roses. haha. Updated On: 11/25/03 at 05:24 PM

Bette was on the episode where the backer's son won't play the piano anymore because an old man died in front of him at Yetta's home. The old man played Sofia's husband on the Golden Girls. re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Broadway Stars on T.V.
Anyway, Bette is there to host a charity event. At one point she is at the Sheffield's house and chasing Fran throughout the house because the little boy's father was pulling all of his money out of Bette's charity because of Fran. LOL As she's chasing Fran, C.C. is mending a long blue gown (which is on Nles at the time)...when she runs past Niles he says, "Oh Miss. Midler, I'm one of your biggest fans" and she laughs and says, "Ha, that's a shocker." Very funny.
