There are 39 in total and, no, they're not ALL always occupied --like now the Belasco and Longacre won't have new shows until after the New Year, and the Barrymore and Cort, while not presently occupied, have new shows scheduled to preview in the coming weeks (depending on the strike, which probably will push back THE HOMECOMING which was scheduled to start previews at the Cort on the 23rd, but probably won't be able to start until December and/or sometime shortly after the strike ends, whenever that is).

The New Victory isn't a Broadway house. It's a special theatre dedicated to shows for children.

Posted: 11/12/07 at 9:40pmYes, and it's beautiful. It was one of the first historic theaters that received a multimillion dollar restoration by the city and state of New York as part of the New 42nd Street Project back in the 90s. They did a gorgeous job.

Margo is a man, but you aren't the first to make the mistake.
re: Broadway Theaters???#13
Posted: 11/13/07 at 12:43amNever been to the Majestic? It's worth the price for a ticket to Phantom to see it. I love that theater. Look at its history.

^^ Yup. Actually that is soo funny! I never been to the Majestic Theater bec. I started going to Broadway shows in 1992 after I saw Miss Saigon.. and Phantom of the Opera opened in 1988, whereas almost all the tenants of all Broadway Theaters have changed since then. If CATS would have not closed.. I would have never been to the Winter Garden too..(same case with the Imperial Theater's Les Miserables)
BTW- I have seen Phantom of the Opera in Boston's Wang Center and I will finally see CATS in Atlanta's Fox this January... I am not really a ALW's fan though I love his Sunset Boulevard.
I might just see Phantom of the Opera in Majestic for the sake of the theater
