Does the overhang of the mezzanine @ row J obstruct the view of the top of the stage if seated behind row J?

Only side R/L side sections available closer to the front. Or would mezzanine be better?

I don't want to miss seeing King Kong's entire head if he is 20 ft tall!

Mezzanine is great at the broadway for large scale spectacle

You have to go a lot further back than row J for the mezzanine to obstruct anything on the stage. Below is a pic from orchestra row R. I opted for front mezzanine center in order to get the full scope of the effects.

Front Mezzanine is great at the Broadway...Orchestra no farther than row O is your best bet!
