To those of you who take trips to NY and see a bunch of shows in a few days, how do you like it? I was just thinking as I read Greekmusicalfan's signature which is a schedule of like fifteen shows that they are seeing in like a ten day period. My thoughts are, how would you really enjoy each and every show you see. I would get back from a trip and be like, well I think I liked that show but I don't really remember. But that could just be me. My point is for those of you that have done it, how did you like it?
I also live forty minutes out of the city and I know that not everyone has that privelege and some have to do this to see all of the shows thay want.

I live in California and because of my work schedule (or at least at the time I went), I've never been in New York for longer than 3 days at a time. Sucks, but that's what happens. I took notes and tons of pictures. :)

I had my first trip to NY (from Australia) in May last year. I saw 5 shows in 9 nights (should have been 6 but the Xanadu preview was cancelled). As we were also sightseeing all day I did find it was a little overwhelming.

That said, I am coming back again in May for 7 nights and I am seeing 8 shows. I could see more (e.g have given myself Monday night off)but think I may need a break. I will be on my own this time and won't need to do all the sightseeing so I think it will be great.

The fact that NY is a long way to go means I have no other choice.

Yeah I understand that some people don't have a choice because of the distance. i'm just glad i can space shows out so I can fully enjoy them instead of worrying about where to eat before the 7:00 show. Haha.

well I live in KY right now and try to get to the city at least 3 times a year if i can...and cram as many shows as possible while I'm there...was there last weekend Friday, Saturday, Sunday came home Monday and saw 4 shows in that time, i enjoyed each and every one of them. I take them in when I'm there and reflect on them, but I know what you mean they go by so fast that sometimes it's a blur...but it's the only way i can do it. I'm trying to move closer so hopefully I'll have the luxury of spacing things out.

When I plan vacations now though I have to cram as many shows as possible into a short period of time just so I can see everything I want to.

I envy people that live close!

I envy people who can go to new york period. My friend and I decided we want to go to NY for spring break in 2 years (senior year). Too bad i'm poor.

I am currently ending my New York trip.

I enjoyed it thoroughly, and chose a great crop of shows to go see.
However, I definitely feel that way (perhaps not remembering each show) about the shows I saw. It was a lot to take in over 4 days (I did six shows), but it was a blast. I don't live here, so any chance I get to come I like to cram in as many shows as possible.

I don't remember some specific parts of some shows, but I saw them and can relive them on the cast albums or in the printed text.

On the other hand, I saw THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION on one night in the city and didn't see any other shows around that time, and didn't remember much at all from that either.

The reality is, that the stuff worth remembering is in my mind forever.

I get to go to New York once every summer, and throughout the year I have to constantly read about tons and tons of productions and events I have to miss. So naturally, when I come to New York, I like to experience as much as possible while I'm in town. I did all the cheesy tourist stuff years ago when I was a kid, and I already know the city like the back of my hand so it leaves a lot of time for me to expose myself to the theatre.

For the most part, I usually see a show a day. This year is my first year with a crazy schedule to be honest. I'm planning on [hopefully] checking out 10 shows in the course of 7 days. It's very likely that I might be cancelling one or two though just because...it's a little much. re: Broadway Trips

I'm typing this from my Broadway trip! I've seen 3 and there are 2 more today, and every show has a distinct memory in my mind. I love ODing on Broadway shows...I need to take more of these things!

Unfortunately, living close enough to the city is not all it's cracked up to be. Okay, I live an hour and a half away, and always take the train in now, but I still have to drive like 35 minutes to catch it. Plus, I am not rich either, so I really have to plan day or evening trips accordingly. Like I can't just shell out big bucks for show tickets all the time, so doing that frequently is out of the question. Fortunatly, the 4 times I've been there this year alone, I got tickets to a show for Christmas, I walked the WGA picket line 2 days in a row, which is free, and I paid for my ticket myself to see Spamalot. Hopefully I can get enough money together by June 26th to go and maybe stay over night.

I live in KY too, and I am leaving for NYC Tuesday for Spring Break. Tuesday seeing TLM, Wed. seeing YF and Adding Machine, and Thursday Xanadu.
In between each show I'll hit a few restaurants and bars, and do a little shopping.
I feel everyday I am in NYC that I have to see a show, or I am wasting time. It does make for a tight schedule, but I think it is the only way to do it.

I live about 3 and 1/2 hrs away from NYC. I take the train or the bus(depending on what's cheaper at the time) which only a minute away from my apartment. Sometimes I just go for a couple of hours just to see a show. Sometimes I stay a couple of days in which I can see 3 or 4 shows. I always get partial view tickets or rear mezz. which are cheaper. I do lotto's also since I'm way too old to do student rush. I always can remember which shows I have seen(the playbills help me with that. LOL). I don't do the sightseeing stuff because I have done all that before(except for the Staten Island Express. I love that). Sometimes a Yankees game gets thrown into the mix also...lol. Going to NYC to see some shows and a random ballgame is my drug of choice...haha. I go about once every 2 months.
