I loved Idina's "What I Did for Love." Her "Defying Gravity" was good. A pretty standard performance from her. Her voice is getting lower and lower and the years go on. Her vibrato still wins me over though
Audra was wonderful, as always.

Posted: 10/21/10 at 9:29amMy only exposure to this was the PBS broadcast, so I'm in no position to comment on how it looked unedited. Having said that, I think this show did absolutely no great favors to Broadway. The jokes were lame, the performances spotty, and, much though I have loved Elaine in the past, I think it was a BIG mistake to have her do two songs where she was obviously going up in her lines. Granted, her survival alone in worth commendation, but anyone seeing her for the first time without the backlog of fabulous memories would probably be discouraged from going to a Broadway show altogether. Just my thoughts.

Posted: 10/21/10 at 12:31pmI don't think the audience minded Strich's lapses- they leaped out of their seats to give her a standing O. An old lady singing about surviving life's travails is probably granted a little leeway, especially when she's an old lady who has survived life's travails.
