Bythesword, I could not agree more. I have no idea why there is this overwhelming good will toward this relentlessly mediocre show. In a year where crappy shows like "Starmites" could get a Best Musical nod, this show could have indeed cleaned up at the Tonys-- happily, this is not the case this year! This year real actual shows opened and the best ones got nominated.

Jenn & Chayenne gave adequate performances, but neither was spectacular. The set was nice, but as many have pointed out, very remiscent of Hairspray. I will agree that the arrangements were very nice-- I guess if you want to get whipped up that would be the category to be outraged about, but again, it's a very competitive year.

i can't believe it didn't get nominated for anything. that made me the most upset. and yes, it is a lot like Hairspray, but i think it's better. and Hairspray won best musical. so it's just so hard to come to terms with the complete lack of ASU nominations.

I don't care either way as I've not seen it nor will I but to the poster who answered what a "shame" it would be if it ran longer than all the rest I have two words, MAMA MIA. That one, quite unfortunately, I did see and ASU can't be any worse and the performances can't possibly be any more mediocre. And I'm not even a psychic.

And yet you're absolutely right re: Broadway.com's All Shook Up Tony Mistake

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Having not seen the show or heard any of the music, how could there be "great orchestrations?" Insn't it just Elvis music, or is it significantly different?

The arrangements are very different. Mnay of the songs in the show are not the recognizable Elvis tunes. The ensemble numbers left me with chills!
I am far from an jukebox musical fan or even an Elvis fan for that matter...but my entire family absolutely LOVED ASU. I know the naysayers may disagree, but there is alot to like about this show. If anything, I think the choreography should have been nominated.
