Broadway.com exists for one reason, to make money for itself (which, from what I hear, ain't working out so well).
So they are going to choose people that interested ticketbuyers will connect with. And with so many people questioning what is appropriate for kids nowadays in terms of subject matter and language, aside from the "given" Disney shows, moms and grandmothers, who generally do the theatre decisions for the trips to NYC, will be greatly interested in buying tickets for a show that kids will like and relate to.
