on June 27 6 p.m., Broadway in Chicago will apparently be performing at the Petrillo Band Shell during the Taste of Chicago. Does anyone know what they will be performing? Since Wicked, The Lion King, and Little Shop of Horrors will be in town, do you think they will perform?
Is this so...I might have to make a trip to Chicago on the 27!
You can bet there won't be anything from The Woman in White.
Here's what I've found about the June 27 performance.
"This 45 minute concert will be presented as part of the Taste of Chicago festivities. The concert will include cast members of "Wicked," "Little Shop of Horrors," and "The Lion King," as well as the Chicago Children's Show Choir."
And I'll add some information about a July show I'm excited about. My favorite performer, Debbie Gravitte, returns!

Menken fan, I know the other two but who is Horvath?

Apparently they did this event last year also, with the shows that were in town at the time. I heard nothing about it. I saw this on the Taste line up and wondered what it was-- read about it on the Broadway in Chicago website. I'm curious what all they will do- 45 minutes is a long time, at least enough for each show to do 2-3 songs.
Everything you ever wanted to know about...
Jan Horvath
Menken fan, thanks. I've seen her and didn't know it.
Thanks! Now I really hope I can go on Monday! hehe then I can see a preview of Ana and/or Kate.
OMG JODI BENSON!! i'm soooo there!!!
How do I get tickets to the July 27 or 29th shows???? tell me!!
Saw Debbie and others at the Pritzker last summer.
It was free (to sit on the lawn) and lots of fun.
Since I'm obsessed with Debbie, I also saw her last year at Millenium Park. The concerts are always free for lawn seating and some seating in the pavillion. The forward seating section is reserved for members and donors.
Last year, I paid a little $$ to get into the seating area, then scoot up to the 1st row.
If you go this year, stick around afterwards. The performers are always out hawking and signing their CDs. Last year, I chatted quite a bit with Debbie and Christiane Noll.
Grant Park Music Festival
so who is going on monday?
I really really want to...but I'm not sure I can get out there
and I have no one to go with...
*tear*
I'm teaching myself to drive to Chicago this month..so there will be no more of this "dad can you drive me to Chicago this day?" things anymore. I'm practicing Wednesday when I see Little Shop.
HAVE FUN to those who go...think of me while you're there! :)
stephaniethestar- that's why I learned how to take metra. Now I can see any show i want when it comes to town and not rely on my parents.
Also I plan on learning that soon...
I'm in Rockford so I'd have to drive to Elgin or O'hare. Then take the metro. I think that's what it is. My Chicago friend was telling me how to get to Chicago w/o driving...I don't remember really. haha! I learn someday!
I love taking metra
.
It's the only way I'm getting to the Taste on Monday.
hmm...you're giving me ideas jai....lol
my mom is gonna freak if I ask to go by myself...it's not like I'm 19 or anything! (sarcasm)
psh...I'm younger than 19...
I'm going to TRY to film the concert with my camcorder. It's a big maybe, because I dont know if I want to carry it.
let me just say that this was a wonderful concert. The program was:
The Wizard and I (Kristy Kates)
As Long As You're Mine (Kristy Kates and Kristoffer Cusick)
Seasons of Love (Chicago children Choir)
Feed Me (Git It)(Jonathan Rayson and Michael Leslie James)
Suddenly Seymore (Jonathan Rayson and Tari Kelly)
I Know where I've been (Chicago children choir)
You Can't Stop the Beat (Chicago Children Choir)
Shadowland (cast of lion King)
Circle of Life
Overall it was a GREAT show. Kristy was amazing and now I wish i could see her do the role. She blew the roof off of the petrillo band shell. However, I was disspointed that I couldn't see Ana. ah well. Jonathan and Michael were great (and yes, they did use the plant). and the cast of the lion king was superb. If you have any questions...ask away! haha cause I'm not that great at reviews. I'll post some pictures later.
OH.. Kristy. I LOVE Kristy. I saw her performance once, and to be honest, shewasalotbetterthanShoshana. Well, I don't know. Both have their strengths. But Kristy seemed to have so much more...dominating stage presence. I'm so glad we have Ana and Kristy in Chicago. And Telly and Kristoffer....YAAAAAAAAY
DAMN! I wanted to see Kristy!! ahh..and Kris...love that boy.
Jealous...another thing I should have went to! well everyone wish me luck that I'll win the lottery on Wednesday!
