Just got back from Broadway on Broadway.
Here's what happened in alphabetical order:
Ave Q- Sucks to be Me
Beauty and the Beast- A change in me
Bombay Dreams- Shakalaka Baby
Brooklyn- Once Upon a time
Chicago- All I care about
Dracula- Life after Life
Hairspray- Run and tell that
Forever tango
Little Women- Astonishing
Mamma Mia- SOS
Rent- What you Own
The Lion King- Shadowlands
Phantom of the Opera- All I ask of you
The Producers- I wanna be a producer
Wicked- For Good
Wonderful Town- My Darlin Eileen
Overall, performances were great, though there were lots of technical problems with the sound, and a couple songs had to be redone because of recording issues. Also there were a lot of breaks between songs and a lot of standing around time. My favorites were Eden in Brooklyn, Sutton in Little Women, and of course, Idina in Wicked. Fun day, wish there were more songs though, last year seemed a lot more full.

Of all songs, why did Wicked do "For Good"? I love it, but it's kind of...boring...compared to others on the CD.
And also, that doesnt seem like alot of songs. You think they'll show them all on the televised show?
When does the televised show air? I think it's on NBC, but I'm not sure as to the day/time.
awesome review... i wish i could go, but i heard there were like thousands of peope there. It's ok.. i'll see it on TV. I think it's on Tuesady night @ 8:00 on NBC??? is that right???
Whoever went, post more details! i wanna hear all about it!!
I believe it starts at 7pm on Tuesday---
More details please! I have to wait till October to see the tape, and I want a vivid rundown of what happened.
AKA how was JLT? I cant wait for the pictures to go up tomorrow for this and for BFO closing night.

thanks!! i can't wait to watch it on tuesday!
Wow, ok, lots of questions to answer. I don't know why JLT and Idina sang For Good, it sounded great but I was much happier with The Wizard and I performance that Idina did last year. I've seen JLT in Wicked, and she is wonderful. The people around me gave the Wicked performance a positive review. CCR wasn't so great as a host or singer. Host- lots of corny jokes and bad dialogue, which I know she doesn't write but was just awful. Hope that is edited out of the tv version. As a singer, she wasn't great, but I think she can get away with it as Belle, since it is a kiddie type show and the part is for a younger audience. Wayne Brady was good in Chicago, and had a couple funny jokes and Ad-libs in his hosting part (Shaft the Musical).
I was there too! It was so awesome! I especially thought that Kelli O'Hara and Tom Hewitt from DRACULA did a great job. "LIFE AFTER LIFE" has been stuck in my head all day!
I thought JLT and Idina were great together, but I thought that Eden was absolutely fantastic singing "Once Upon A Time".
Did anyone else here on the boards go?

I was there and I was unimpressed by the whole thing. The technical glitches and the less than stellar performances really didn't do it for me. A few standouts were Eden Espinosa, Tom and Kelli of Dracula, and Avenue Q. Propz to Jen Barnhart who did an uncanny Stephanie DAbruzzo.
I had so so so much fun. I'll post a big "review" later.

I was there as well, I thought it was terrible with the exception of Eden. She did well. Nice day but the sound sucked.
In an edit to my above message:
I thought the show was awesome. But I wish that they could have worked through the technical glitches better instead of having either no microphones or voices intruding on songs, etc.

i, too, was unimpressed, (and on an side note, rather unsurprised at the rudeness that the people who came out for this event showed)... anyway, nothing about this event impressed me enough with any of the shows... i thought Eden Espinosa was amazing, and i think she has a much clearer voice than Idina Menzel, Hunter Foster kept scrunching his face up during the Producers number which distracted me from the song itself, Sutton Foster is going to be a major star (as is Eden), and i think the most energy i felt was from the Hairspray number and Avenue Q...

ave q was kind of upsetting, they did really good, but john tartaglia was CLEARLY sick or something, it sounded like he was anyway. hairspray: seaweed was really good (i dont agree with him going falsetto in the end, but it was entertaining nonetheless), but lil inez was a little too confident for not being good and not even knowing how to hold a mic. christy carlson romano made me laugh out loud because she was SO bad. eden was really good but the song sounds a little awkward, which i guess is ok when youre belting g's. sutton foster was amazing but what else is new....and i think she already IS a star, unless a tony doesnt qualify you as such.
yes, john tartaglia was really out of voice... we heard it during the soundcheck... i think he was best in the first take, but lost in for the second...
Is anyone in the NY area willing to make a copy of this for me when it appears on TV?
I will pay shipping costs and the cost of a DVD or tape.
i wish it was being shown on NBC in DC.
PM me if you are willing. Thanks.

Andy--I last saw Avenue Q on Fri, Sept 3rd and Natalie wasn't there either. Her understudy was good, but not a big highlight. I think she (as anyone would do I would think in such a show as the Q) had trouble making the role her own.
John's voice was great last Monday at Joe's Pub. I hope he feels better.
I was listening to it on the Earth cam, and was not a big fan of the Gary Coleman. I didn't remember that Drew was singing, but it did sound pretty good.

nooooo, drew showed everybody why he wasnt the lead singer. his voice was really weak, and his vibrato was distracting. jeremy kushner was good though.

Anybody know if they plan to release a CD of the performances this year?
Maybe I was remembering Jeremy. He was great when I saw him in May.
