Who are some Broadway singers who continued singing after recovering from vocal damage? A lot of singers think that getting nods means the end of a career. Even though its terrible if they get them, aren't there singers who go through vocal therapy and can continue performing? A friend of mine has to go on vocal rest for quite some time due to fatigue. They're checking for blisters on her chords on Friday so I wanted to give her some happy stories to think of (even though her technique is terrible, so I hope she learns from this).
With vocal rest nodes can be healed. After they are healed, the real issue is learning how to place everything where it will not lead to them returning.
Patti LuPone had nodes.

I'm pretty sure Caissie Levy is making a come back.
Nathan Lane had nodes during the first run of the Producers. He missed many performances and had to alter his delivery after that. However, in his recent stint with "November", Nathan's voice sounded very strong. Of course he wasn't singing and we haven't seen him in a musical since "Frogs" so I don't know how his singing voice is.
John Cullum had an operation for nodes after On the Twentieth Century closed (and he sounded in seriously bad shape the last few months of the run).
But though his singing did get back in shape, he never again did a long run of a vocally demanding role.

Not a Broadway performer, but a friend of mine had nodes at the age of 15 and now (well, I last heard her two years ago at 1
sounds better than she did before them, due to improved technique.

A ton of Maureens in RENT had serious vocal issues- i know Kristen Lee Kelly, for example, suffered from vocal troubles a few months into her run as fulltime Maureen and I think had to leave the show earlier than initially anticipated because of it... Tamara Podemski struggled as well.
