Executive producer is a title you will find, if you care to look, in the credits of a variety of Broadway shows. Typically it is a general manager who, for one reason or another, is assuming broader responsibility. It is also a way of having a show "produced" (in the classic sense) by someone who is an employee and not scarfing up a big chunk of your share of the profits.) No smoke screen, nothing nefarious.
If you want to carp about something in relation to this, try focusing instead on the fact that she doesn't really have the Broadway experience one would want in an executive producer.
