Thanks for posting the info on where to order. I just saw arerun of this show on PBS the other night and am anxiously awaiting the release of the DVD. It's really wonderful to be able to see these Broadway legends performing numbers from their signature shows. Being just a bit too young to have appreciated it, I never had the opportunity to see the original staging of Wilkkomenn with Joel Grey or to have seen two women I love, Chita and Gwen performing in Chicago.

I'll have to go and pre-order my copy now.

Who started the rumor that Jennifer Holiday singing "And I Am Telling You" was on it?

The rights holders could not come to terms with the producers and the DREAMGIRLS, CHORUS LINE and Richard Kiley MAN OF LA MANCHA clips were pulled and the Harris, Luodon and Franklin numbers were substituted. Was a release date listed?

Orion59, seeing Gwen and Chita in CHICAGO was one of the highlights of my theatergoing life. It was my first Broadway show and I've been hooked ever since. Jerry Orbach was fantastic as well.

I can just imagine what that must have been like. I was at that age where I would have sat through it and enjoyed but, much of the subtlties would have gone over my head.

I missed out on some of the greatest moments of Broadway history. I'm hoping that some of the shows I see now and have seen in past years will someday be considered lost treasures. I somehow doubt that many will. It seems we don't have those really great roles and stars creating a signature role anymore.
(I swear I'll electronically smack the first person who brings up Sutton Foster and Millie in response to that last sentence)

I've seen many Roxies and no one has ever come close acting wise to Verdon. Reinking danced it spectacularly and was effective in the role. But what Verdon could do with a line let alone a look or a shrug! Though I have liked a number of Velmas, Chita still remains my favorite as well.

I think there have been performances in the past 25 years that will be considered treasures. But it's hard to make an original mark in yet another revival or when you have to compete with a flying car, tire, helicopter or chandelier.

Am I the only one who thought the Broadway Lost Treasures was sort of a letdown. They had most of the numbers done from ONE tony award show. I was very unhappy with it. I thought it could have been better.

I do think that Paul Lynde seemed too angry when he sang "Kids". To me it should be aggravation rather than anger.

Sure, it could have been better. They could have had a wider range of performers from diffrent years, they could have included some numbers from shows that were not included. As viewers we can always come up with ideas that would have improved a show like this one but, overall, it was great to see some of those rare performances.

While I was glad to have the special, I agree it could have been better. I have seen tapes of old Tony shows at the Museum of Television & Radio. The numbers from the original production of ZORBA and PROMISES, PROMISES were knockouts. In 1976 you had Jerry Orbach doing All I Care About, the CHORUS LINE numbers and the opening of PACIFIC OVERTURES. How about Alexis Smith doing Lucy & Jessie? There are a lot of other treasures that I would like to see. Let's hope there is a part two and these and more (like DREAMGIRLS) make the cut.

I believe the Richard Kiley Impossible Dream number can be found on Ed Sullivan Best of Broadway DVD
