I would say it isn't official til an announcement is made, but there are lots of "congrats" on Chelsea's facebook page.

I *think* she will still be in the second. If it is Chelsea, I'm very happy!

Sierra Boggess's last performance is May 31st.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Will Norm Lewis still be with the show at that point?

That wouldn't surprise me about Chelsea, she's been on a lot recently for Ariel and that's probably why they went ahead and made Michelle Lookado an understudy. Everything I've been seeing or reading recently is that Chelsea is on for Sierra, anyone one know why Sierra's been out so much it seems recently?

Recently Sierra has been in London recording the concept album for Phantom 2, so that explains the high frequency of Chelsea playing Ariel.

I may have to make a trip back just to see Chelsea, I love her voice. I wanted to see Sierra one last time, but it doesn't look like that's happening...

I was thinking it was probably something to do with Phantom, I was concerned she was just starting to get real lazy and just call out for no reason at all, but I'm glad that it's because of Phantom!

Chelsea usually posts when she is going on, on broadwayunderstuides.com , Michelle does too. So I take it Sierra will be on this Sunday. Have fun!

Chelsea Stock is the new Ariel. No one new will be understudying the role except for Chelsea's replacement.

Just got back from Heidi's last show - she was totally fierce!!
At stage door, I asked Sierra who was replacing her when she leaves May 30, and she said officially she couldn't tell me, but that the replacement is in the cast currently. If that's not code for Chelsea, then I don't know what is :)

It has officially been announced by Chelsea Stocks High School that she will be starring as Ariel starting June 2, 2009. Sierra's last performance is slated for May 31st, 2009. I just registered but I needed to share this exciting news because I absolutely LOVE Chelsea and cannot wait.

Thanks, somethingwicked, and everyone for contributing info...now I can make definite plans to go before Sierra leaves, in May. Just how she looks, definitely, makes the part come to life for me.

The new Ariel will be Vin Diesel.

He takes over the role just after Labor Day and whoever is playing through the summer is just a fill-in. Disney will make the announcement mid-August so not to impact summer sales that would otherwise delay until fall.
