Posted: 4/8/14 at 2:32pmSounds fantastic and the trailer is amazing. But I don't know how you can possibly cover this time period without mentioning Company and Follies. They seem like major omissions.

I guess you have to assume that Sondheim wouldn't talk, and that getting clips from his shows was prohibitively expensive.
Though, again, leaving out Follies and especially Company seems wrong.

Maybe they'llbe added--it does seem strange not to cover the Prince shows.
I doubt they'd have trouble getting Sondheim to talk...

Any word on the release for this? IMDB now has it as simply "2015". I swear I've been checking every year since 2005 and it always seems to say the following year!!
It's been so very long now! I wonder if the delay has to do with untangling rights issues.
In any case I can't wait!!

Posted: 12/15/14 at 10:24amAnyone know what is going on with this? There hasn't been a backers update since February which said DVD release by Christmas. Clearly that isn't going to be the case. I guess I should have known better than to back this project considering the amount of times he has changed the release date.

Looks like a portion of the film is on Youtube. I haven't watched it yet but it's about A Chorus Line.

Well that's something. I still have come to conclusion that the movie will never be released and that the Kickstarter campaign was nothing but a scam. A year now with no update to the Backers who put money into this project.
Yes, he posted an update in September 2013 that stated: "I promise to keep you all updated and packages will be on their way out in the next months. The DVD/Blu-ray packages will, of course, have to wait till the release of the film next year, however others will be going out in much sooner."
I understand he's had health issues, but the fact that he has not updated those of us who have given him our hard earned money is unacceptable.

Sondheim was in a bunch of segments in the first film (as was Hal Prince), so perhaps they're just taking more time putting together a possible Sondheim-Prince segment? On the audio commentary of the first film, Rick mentioned that Sondheim didn't really want to be interviewed, but wound up having a great time talking, and spent several hours with him.

Posted: 2/5/15 at 11:35amWell, KICKSTARTER said it was "successfully funded" and in fact shows it received $4,000 more than the original goal. And that was Feb. 2013. So someone should have made an announcement (at least about completion of filming/editing dates) but I guess not!

Posted: 2/5/15 at 12:29pmThanks for that. I was also a backer and just wrote it off due to his health issues. I think if I'd been a major backer I would have been more steamed but I know he was sincere in trying to get this made.

Posted: 2/5/15 at 12:31pmThere's some great stuff in there, although I could do without the ocassional, amateurish visual punctuations (at the mention of scotch, a slo-mo shot of ice being dropped into a glass of scotch). It's ironic that the constant "Do not copy or circulate" advisory is on a clip you can find on YouTube.

Posted: 2/5/15 at 12:41pmCommunication is key. We've all been waiting for this movie for almost 9 years now, and I think most of us are willing to keep waiting a little longer so they get it right, but the lack of communication is appalling. It shouldn't be a year between Backers updates (the last one was 2/8/14).

Posted: 2/5/15 at 12:50pm^ I agree. And we've already lost Tony Stevens. How many more before this thing is completed?
Broadway: Beyond the Golden Age#40
Posted: 2/5/15 at 1:59pmI mean, like, didn't it screen in Palm Springs? It's completed, no?

Posted: 2/5/15 at 9:30pmThe date/year on that youtube clip says 2015.

Oy vey. The IMDB page has been updated with a release year of 2016.
By the time it comes out it will have been 12 years since the first installment.

Broadway: Beyond the Golden Age#44
Posted: 3/19/15 at 6:15pmI too would love some news. I've trusted them with my money via Kickstarter and they've treated their backers like @$@#. If the release has been pushed back another year and he hasn't alerted his backers he should be ashamed of himself.

I all seems very strange. I remember it screening in Palm Springs last year. People reviewed it here, right?
Could it simply be issues of getting music rights? Or is something more sinister afoot?
I wish McKay would just tell us SOMETHING. Anything!

I've spoken to the producer a lot on Facebook and it is happening--I BELIEVE a rough cut actually played last month at a film festival.
