Brooke can definitely sing it (this is a role sung by the likes of Gwen Verdon, Ann Reinking and Melanie Griffith -- not exactly your vocal divas) -- I just wonder if she can DANCE it!

She'll probably be great and I bet she ends up doing this in NYC.

I hope she does bring it to NY - I'd go and see it even though I've already seen the revival twice. I thought she was excellent in Wonderful Town.

WOW. She looks fantastic.

I have no doubt she can sing the part. She sang Ruth fine in WT. And as someone stated, Roxie is not for an amazing singer, it just basically calls for a female who can carry a tune.

Roxie's dancing is not as difficult as Velma's, so I think Brooke will be fine. Also, if you didn't know. Roxie's big dance number is"Me and My Baby", and Reinking choreographed 3 different versions of this number - an easy version, a semi more advanced version, than the most difficult version - the one we see Charlotte D'amboise do. So if anything, for MAMB they can just give Brooke the medium version if she can't handle the difficult version.

I really hope Barry & Fran bring her to NYC after London.

if she comes to nyc do you think we'll get a brooke shields in chicago cd?- i'd buy it in a heartbeat if they had her put over anne reinking with the obc... if they weisslers would do another for wonderful town that close to closing i don't see why not. Although i'd love the full current(well current as of the time she gets there) b'way cast more i'd settle for this.

Does anyone think that looks like Brooke's head on someone else's body? Even the shadow looks phony. Wish they would have given her a nice, crisp, black-and-white shot. Still, I'm sure she's going to make a good Roxie (and Charley Izabella King will make a rockin' Velma with her!)

I wouldn't go so far as to say Brooke sang Ruth "fine." She was passable and didn't embarass herself. I think she's a truly terrible actress, she tries waaaay too hard, and is often strident, but I do appreciate that she's trying to reinvent herself as a stage actress.

well kindnessofstrangers take into account the nature of roxie hart, she is not supposed to be exceptionally talented, theres a reason she isn't in vaudville until she becomes a murderess. so therefor having a decent singer who's acting is a bit forced should be pretty much ideal casting

Brooke was a super model.
She is a very nice person. She was in my home room.
A very nice person back then.

Well, let me be the first to break it to you -- there's a distinct difference between a talented actress playing an untalented wannabe actress and an untalented actress playing the same. She might be fine, who knows? She's undeniably beautiful and that goes a long way in my book.

Don't agree about Brooke's acting. She has improved tremendously in the past ten years! I was amazed and impressed when I saw her in the small indy film The Weekend. And she is a good comedienne too, in my opinion.

She looks amazing!!! I have a feeling she is going to be incredible. We can probably count on her doing a turn on Broadway as Roxie.

I think she does dance. In fact, I remember some sort of profile on her on E! a few years back and it showed her in a dance class. It was a jazz class and she moved extremely well. Granted it was only about 10 seconds of footage but I could tell she could dance. I think we are going to continue to be pleasantly surprised by Miss Brooke.

Well, I used to take dance at Broadway Dance, and Brooke was there EVERY Saturday morning sweating her butt off with the rest of the kids. I met her once and it was amazing to see how much she was just like everyone else -- very friendly and just there to improve herself. I have a feeling that she has taken this approach in all aspects of her life (acting, singing, etc.), so I applaud her for her efforts to be more than just a model and wish her much success.

Wow! What a knockout she is. I think she'll do great. Anyone will be better than Melanie Griffith, right??
