There's a post about someone comparing Christina Applegate and John Lithgow claiming they're both TV stars who decided to do a show on Broadway, which is completely not true given that Lithgow is known as a Broadway star who has been awarded two Tonys. However, someone suggested that the real comparison should be Christina Applegate and Brooke Shields.
Now, I think they're both great performers. Applegate-and we all know she's not Gwen Verdon-gives 150% on stage as Charity, and Brooke Shields was validated when she took over Donna Murphy on Wonderful Town and got excellent reviews (it helped that she didn't miss almost every performance like Murphy). I don't know how the Chicago reviews were but I like her acting. I honestly respect both performers and I think they both have done justice to the roles they take on stage.
