For the song "Streetsinger", is that Cleavant Derricks singing?
It doesn't really sound like him

It's funny.. because even we (bklyn fans) still don't know if it
was HORACE V. ROGERS (Swing/US on Broadway) or David Jennings from
the original Workshop and Denver Production.
I think it's David.

It's David.
Jeff Calhoun told me.

Posted: 3/11/05 at 11:41pmI think, also, they released the song before david had left the production, and he left at the end of july...

#14re: Brooklyn Demo Question
Posted: 3/12/05 at 9:21amyeah...clevant sings the entire part of the "streetsinger/ cityweed" track. It is just that David played the character in the workshops/ Denver Production, but left before it hit broadway.

Hello, I am David Jennings.
A friend of mine told me there was some discussion about me here on this site, and there was some confusion for a while now if I am actually on the BROOKLYN CD or demo. Since this convo seems to have been going on for a while, and erroneous information was being said, I thought I'd sign up, come here, and help clear it up once and for all.
For the record, I am not on ANY demo, CD, or recording of any of the music of BROOKLYN. I did help create the show in the original workshop in New York, and I did appear in the Denver production that helped bring the show to Broadway. But due to a diagnosis of thyroid cancer last year that involved surgery and substantial healing time, I did not participate in ANY of the publicity materials, recordings, appearances, etc. that led up to the Broadway portion of the show. The voice you hear on the demo is actually Horace V. Rodgers (the current u/s), and is NOT me. Jeff Calhoun could not have possibly told you it was me, since it is not. I sincerely hope my coming here and clearing this information up was helpful to those who have been wondering. Horace should receive all the credit for his work on that demo, not me.
I am also happy to report that I am TOTALLY 100% cured, well, and healthy, and my ENTIRE ordeal with cancer is behind me (THANK GOD!). I am working hard and keeping busy, and as one poster said they may have worked with me on RAGTIME in L.A. a few months ago. My heartfelt thanks to those of you who sent me well wishes and prayers last year during my illness. Happy Posting!
